As u must have noticed the bike has stonking power. Ride her around in C mode and then gradually up the ante as your confidence peaks. Please do RUN it in , is very important. Try varying your speeds and avoid constant speeds. This way the brand new parts inside get aligned to each other lots better.

Need I say savour every moment??

    Cheers!
Special Thanks to you busalover, your thread was one of the inspirations to get a GSR-R 1000! She does have a lot of power!

I mostly ride 'C' and change to 'B' rarely if I get on the highway. I don't stunt and I try to ride as carefully as I can. No whacking the throttle or anything, except for short bursts once a while that too only after the 500kms were up and when the road is clear (ofcourse within the speed limits).

You are welcome my "Partner in riding Gixxers"! I am glad to know you are a sensible rider and do not indulge in any stunting on the streets. Just get yourself some basic safety oriented add-ons and keep riding away.

I would recommend frame sliders (puig/r&g). Make sure they are no cut outs. Also go in for the fender eliminator...will make the bike look totally hooliganistic. Get yourself fork protectors(r&g), spools and engine casing protectors as well. Oh did I mention a lens protector too??

            Enjoy!

Yeah the Shogun Frame sliders are "bike savers", a competent dealer will make a nice cut (you won't even notice it ) in your frame and install them.

I usually get my gear and accessories from Motorcycle Superstore - Motorcycle Accessories and Motorcycle Gear. Thanks for the links.
If I find some coupons I ain't using, I will send them your way.

I not running the bike too hard, just trying to vary RPM and shift at ~5K in highways.
                PERFECT, enjoy!!

                    Awesome, I love coupons. Thanks!
The Shogun ones I have are no-cut, I think most of the K7-K8 1000 frame sliders are usually no-cut due to the fairing placement. Pretty easy to install if you have a torque range.

Brother, the modding bug is slowly going to take over your very thought process.
Wait till u hear the music pouring out of a Yoshi-slip-on on that gixxer.
Just unbelievable it sounds. Sooner or later you will start modding that beast.
Good to know you are taking it nice a slow. Ride safe.

                                Thanks Guys!

I was in India for a couple of weeks and got to ride my Pulsar 150, which apparently my brother had fitted with K&N filter. It sounded weird as I had no idea of the K&N, I thought it had more sound than my GSX-R, ofcourse the helmet there, was less sound proof. As always riding in India is fun.

My GSX-R has reached the 1000 km mark, so its time for the first service. Booked an appointment for Saturday, it is going to cost me more as it is the first service, they have a huge list of things, mostly torquing the nuts apart from the oil change. I will finally get the 'Shogun frame sliders' installed.

I have found comfortable riding position(s), have 3, city riding (less bent over, arms kinda straight less slack), highway riding (Bent over with legs gripping the tank, supported by core abs and back part with arms parallel to ground) and low speed cruising (Almost straight-up with the arms resting on the legs at approx. 90 degree angle). I have more confidence in taking turns and in general handling the bike, slowly getting there. I was skeptic on doing the first service at 1000km, thought that the bike might be rough by then, but it seems to be smooth, especially after it got a break of 2 weeks, while I was in India.

Do you guys have any suggestions on riding shoes?

I like the the 'Sidi' ones, the look nice, but seem a little expensive. There are no places here I could find these to try them on, so I might have to order them online, which I am not comfortable doing.

Summer heat (when it is 'sunny', which are rare, it is mostly cloudy or raining) takes a toll on my jacket , which is more of a 'Solid one'(with vents), it is good in the 'cold' weather, but not much useful when it is hot. I was on the lookout for a mesh one, almost bought the Joe Rocket UFO Mesh one, but then ended up ordering one with 'abs', saves me time in the gym , its a "Teknic - Supervent Mesh Jacket". The UFO and the Teknic one has one feature which I look for, adjustable straps in the hand, I think it is important to make sure the armor stays in place and since I order online, I cannot get the best fit. I am still waiting for my 'abs' to be delivered, the jacket was marked as an European (slim) fit, so I am curious. This is the jacket:
