  • My first track day on the 1198s

Finally got down to doing it . This Saturday was my very first trackday, luckily on a really cool track bike. I went to a track called Thunderhill in northern california.
    Here are some pics.
My first track day - Thunderhill 6/11 - a set on Flickr
It was such an adrenaline rush, i'm definitely going back for more.

I'll provide a detailed report shortly.

Awesome! Can't get enough of the 1198. Yesterday, me and Aditya were dropping our jaws and rolling our eyes over a red 1198SP. And man! you took it to a track

      Waiting eagerly for the report

Wow, awesome stuff man. Pictures are awesome and great lean angles. Maybe 10Het and some of the other track addicts can offer more insight into your technique.
Seems like I am the only chicken left to track my bike.

I'd totally recommend it, as long as you ride within your limits you should be fine. Plus itl make you a safer street rider, you wont try anything unnecessary on the streets

It took me the longest time to track my bike too (1.5yrs), constantly thinking of the consequences. But these bikes belong on the track, thats where they perform the best.

Fantastic pics mate. Looking at a ducati on track is always a pleasure. Of all the pics your dp is indeed the best. Looks like u were having tons of fun.
Ducatis biggest advantage is it's narrow tank between the legs, thanks to the narrow twin configuration. If you can make use of that to anchor your outside leg you could take some pressure off your palms on the bars.

                      More pics please

when i ride bullet before my bullet was solid condition but i once race with a Ceilo car and my engine size. mechancic say bullet is good bike but no racing. it is good for three people and very powerful.
one day when i become rich i but ducati and then I race with cars. not now.

                      NO PACE TOO SLOW
IF you're at all going to be a respectable rider one day, leave your pride at the "door."

ya, even i noticed it in pics, the outside leg, while leaning is in a bit different/awkward position. i too think it should be sticking to the tank.

and actually, i never noticed it earlier, this bike is actually a lot narrow between legs.

Youre right about anchoring the outer leg. The position of that leg got better as the day progressed, but I wasnt 100% comfortable with the grip from the tank, need some tank guards
