  • Help! - temporary import of Honda XRV750

Hello All Biker Friends and Family. Yes, it's finally time! After many years of dreaming, I am now in a position to come to India with my trusty Honda XRV 750. Soooooo excited! Having lived and travelled in India extensively over the past 20years, I have often thought about the epic all India tour on a sturdy Japanese Cross Bike. Now I want to make it happen...

I know I have to arrange a temporary carnet in the UK before I leave, but what I don't know is anything else about the procedure! Ideally, one of you guys n gals have already done this and will know a good outfit/transport co who are honest, reliable and efficient who will take care of the shipment and customs issues.

Any help or advice very welcome.

    Thanks and safe riding, baby!

Topic Approved. You can use this thread to share pics of your ride, and experience too. Well, maybe some Mumbai guys can help you out.

Apart from that, Xbhp Magazine's page has a detailed article on Carnet and travelling. I don't remember which issue. Will have to get staff members' permission if I have to upload a scan of that page.
Or try some places over the internet.

Yeah, that was in the xbhp December 2011 issue and that was my write up after I brought by R1200GS on a Carnet to india.

Anyways, in post# 6 of the below link, you should have all the required information.

As for shipping by sea, if you take a full container, it sure will be safer & marginally costlier, but then you end up paying more for destuffing the entire container at the Indian port. Whereas if you use a LCL shipment (your shipment will be one among the different items of other shippers in a single container, you will be paying only the destuffing charges proportionate to your shipment).

If you have any queries, feel free to PM me.

      All the best.
