The roads are in perfect condition. Roads till Vadkal Naka are in better shape compared to what they were may be a year back. But there are a lot of diversions and odd pot holes which you would have to be careful about. The only thing I hate in the entire ride is the presence of rumblers at multiple places but I guess they would be lot less felt in a car. After you reach Ladghar to reach Pears resort which is close 7 kms is in real bad shape but nothing dramatic. Best part of the ride is Kasheli Ghat, it's completely be redone and perfect for some fun

Sachinnair - I can see that you sure seem to be having a blast with the N650.

I am kind of going through the same dilemma as you were when you wanted to upgrade from your 150cc motorcycle to bigger X-cylinder bike. I too had a Victor- P150 DTSi- ZMA-R / P220 and now what ??? I might go for a ZMR or a D390 for I cannot simply afford anything upwards of that 2L bracket :-/ and none satisfy my sport-touring riding style like ZMR does (D390 is inviting for obvious performance figs but then those issues :-/ )...

Anyhow I for sure have to wait for some time for that multi-cylinder experience to be part of my life. But what a write up ! updates ! pics ! Got me hooked on !

Would love to meet up next time you are in Bangalore ( as you definitely seem to be doing that more often than I do Bangalore-Mysore :P )

Wish you much more rides .... Now that you are in your 20k+ and nearly 2 years ... Any plans of Upgrade or desired contenders for the next set of wheels ?



(OMG the wheels for these bikes are ridiculously expensive 25k a set . Wow ! that is on the higher side. Anyhow I think its all part of the experience ( the brands business model ) )

CBR250 will be a better choice than ZMR for touring IMO! U can tour on 390 also. Just need to carry extra fuel sometimes.

If budget is a concern then wait for Hero HX250R, Bajaj CS 400 / SS 400 and decide. If you want something quickly and don't like D390 then pick up CBR250R ABS. I love the Repsol 250R, looks beautiful.

Slight correction on your statement - it's not 20K, it's 30K done and I have no plans of any upgrades. I will continue to enjoy the Green Affair because there is nothing else that even comes close to the VFM big bike tag that N650 has.

Regarding tire cost, yes 160 size is hard to find and costs more. In fact you can get 180 rear tire for much cheaper cost and readily available than 160 rear tire. Fact!

Enjoy the wait and you'll love the power of the bike once you lay your hands on it especially since your last bike was a R15.

Thank you for the inputs. Below are my thoughts,

I personally find the proportions of HX250R/2014 ZMA-R/2014 ZMR UNATTRACTIVE(especially the last two ) - Bajaj SS400 is overdone in-terms of Styling - Bajaj CS400 is most interesting from its Styling and product qualities but overall design quality needs to be seen over time.

(My experience - my opinion) Bajaj always seems to win one's heart with what is offered (new innovative features, segment first etc and that Killer Pricing) but over a year or two I think Bajaj products age much faster than a Honda or Yamaha in spite of all services being met and being taken care.

KTM390 has started to show its "insanely low pricing/Cost cutting" in terms of overall Build and Design Quality but than "Itna paise mein itna ich milega" one might say

Yes, CBR250 nonABS/ABS is one of the most well-put together product on offer (Build-Serviceability-Reliability) but I have slight inclination towards ZMR as it suits my riding style and requirements spot on (minus fairing). Anyhow will keep you posted when I buy my next set of wheels.

There are lot of N650 on sale and if you are lucky you can find something as low as 4L - 4.25L for 2012 / 13 model. Regarding financial scheme for N650 please check with Tata capital or HDFC or any other nationalised banks.

Ninja runs on normal fuel. As per manual minimum 87 octane fuel is required and hence, no need for high octane fuel.

I have not rode the GT650N. Comparing N650 with GT650N on papers looks at par however N650 is cheaper to maintain compared to the GT650N. Mileage of N650 is tad better than GT650N. That's all I can say as other aspects I can't comment without riding the bike.
