Since you have put your thoughts in a way that I can relate to it, let me also share with you my journey so far rather than just writing thanks.
Pre ride, during the ride and after the ride and the process is still not finished, it's been a wonderful journey but there is a lot of hardwork and my mind & body have taken a toll to complete this ride and document it in a way that everyone can relate to it. I am still updating the blog to make final tweaks and let's see what happens. Decision is with the judges and all have put up good blogs.

From my side, all I wanted to do is ensure I give my best and hope for the best. No Regrets anywhich ways!

P.S. Surely we shall ride in time!

I don't know the specifications. It is from Redlineplus.in and I have simply borrowed it from a friend for this ride.

        • An update on Midori.

There is a problem with either the Alternator or Regulator Rectifier of the bike. When I press the starter, the bike does not start, the bike console goes blank when I press the starter and that's it. We measured the voltage across the battery terminals with the bike running and unfortunately I am not getting 14-15V. My battery was then fitted in some other bikes and the voltage was increasing on other bikes running which means my battery is fine.

I will be going this weekend again to finally dissect the bike to find out where the problem lies - Alternator or Regulator Rectifier (RR). Whatever part is faulty, will have to be ordered first and then fitted once available. All in all probably Midori will be out of action for the next few weeks as a result

No. There have been some niggles in my ownership experience however those are bound to happen considering the amount of rides I have done on this bike.

              1. Odo at 36000 kms - Radiator fan motor went kaput last monsoon when I was riding her in heavy slush for prolonged hours. I got it replaced under warranty free of cost, otherwise it costs 14K.
              2. Odo at 40000 kms - Fork Seal developed a leak during my Bhutan sojourn. Luckily I found spare fork seals in Lucknow and got it replaced. I am glad the fork seal lasted for 40K kms, it is ideally a wear and tear part so pretty happy with the period it lasted. Costed around 2.5K
              3. Odo at 50000 kms - New Battery. Replaced old battery since it stopped functioning. Costed around 8.5K
              4. Odo at 56000 kms - Charging Issue (Either Alternator or RR) now. I will find out what exactly it is and replace the part accordingly.

i had same issue with my CBR where the speedo and everything used to go blank when i hit the starter. everything was checked good at home. turned out to be a loose battery connection. make sure its connected all good. hold the wires in place manually and then try the starter. can be a small issue.

                        • Problem Detected. My battery and RR are running fine but the Alternator coil is fired unfortunately. I need to replace it with a new one to fix the problem permanently. I would be calling the KTM service centre to find the cost of Alternator coil and as per sources it is around 12-15K

A Fellow N650 rider from Thailand had a similar problem after completing 70K kms on the bike. He got the coil replaced for less than 4000 Baht which is half the cost of what I might have to pay in India. I am just wondering how much money our dear service outlets must be making just out of spare parts. If its above 10K I'll check if I can hand carry the product through friend from Thailand.

As per Karl this problem occurs, "if you allow your oil to run too low the heat build up fries the stator, if your's is a high mileage bike (like mine) then it's acceptable for it to wear out at higher mileage."

Here's an exhaustive info for testing stator / RR / connectors / battery for anyone who is interested to learn about them - Click Here & download the PDF.

Some pictures of the fried Alternator coil, you can see the winding has become black at few places and completely disappeared at few places.

Try to get it from someone who is coming down from US or some other country.

                            Check this on Amazon

As a temporary fix, can't the coils be rewinded ? I know it is risky , probably if you a get a professional and if he can match the output amps it might work.

Regarding spares, Kawasaki guys mint money more than bike margin. For engine guards they quoted me 21k but it was available online for about 80$ + customs

Thanks for sharing. Yes, I am trying to see if I can source it from outside India. Checking with Karl if he can send the coil to my friend who would be visiting Bangkok in a few days.
