@sunny kapoor: Congrats on the ride mate! I think you might've to spend time searching through all archived posts here on xBhp! Pay more attention to those from ken_cool, manson, rossiter, Sunny, and our in house knowledge vault Old Fox!

Haven't been on any superbike, but what I can tell you is, if you're not confident about yourself, you're not gonna enojy your ride. So chill mind, warm up your limbs, take the saddle and vrooooom!

First off.. Sunny, congrats on the bike man. Ride safe.

Secondly, the 07-08 models do have YCC-T. It is mechanically/electronically/aesthetically unchanged over those two years. I have heard the same thing about the official R1s not having YCC-T from a couple of other places and I just cannot understand why or how that came about.

Thanks for stepping in and clarifying rossiter saar
The only difference AFAIK is the stickering and the colour schemes. True..?

Congrats Mate. Ridden the R1 for a while, found it dam uncomfy, extreme pain in the a.. to turn. But my friends who own the beast ensure that R1 keeps dam close to my 14R till at least 250kmph. So all in all. She's a killer. Ride safe, chill on the throttle till you are getting used to the beast. Once set, there are very few people who'll be able to pass you. By the way 2007 R1 is fast enough, so it really doesnt matter if its 08 or 09 or whatever. Its quick - PERIOD

Ah, now what makes you say that! You mean they made an R1 just for India!

                  Congrats Sunnykapoor.
If you are new to superbiking, then till you get the proper feel of the controls (accelerator, clutch, brakes, signals, general handling), just take it easy initially. Dont worry about smaller bikes zooming ahead of you initially or people giving that strange look to a slow moving sbk. Its always better to learn slowly and then advance. First respect the beast and then take him into your stride.

Speed should suffice, but stick to a mix and don't keep swapping between 97 and Speed 91.
The second gear, or as a matter of fact any gear, pull to whatever speed you are comfortable with, but avoid redlining when the bike is cold. Do not try staying in the higher gears at low speeds, the motor will have a lot of wear and tear due to engine lash. Ideally, never go with numbers, stick to the engine note and you'd be good.
Whilst the city commue, I think i shift from second to third at 35 kmph, but on a Sunday morning ride I'd sometimes take it all the way to 180-185 kmph.

If that's correct then my apologies. My information was based on what I have heard from dealers. The rumour/news is that the 07 (models sold in India) did not have YCCT.

It is available in Bike India issues from April to August 08 I think ...

As far as I think, these were the differences I saw:-->

                                1. the footpegs in R1 were way upper than R15, the most striking difference ...

                                2. the handlebars/ clip ons are a bit closer to each other & upper in R15, compared to R1.

                                3. Seat Height was roughly the same ...
