• A SuperBike Dream Come True - My FZ1n

Hi All, It has been a while since I've posted anything here. Hope everyone's riding their hearts out

Some might remember me from the humble TVS XL moped build gone crazy (read as 110kmph track scorcher) http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/thumpers...tvs-50-xl.html OR from one of the first few R15's going the 165cc big bore - FFE - high lift cam route http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/desi-bik...maha-t165.html. In case you don't , feel free to browse through the build threads

Riding/owning/buying a SuperBike needless to say was on my mind ever since I was as a kid. The realization bit of this dream has not been all that straight forward though. First there is convincing the parents to let me invest such sum of money towards a motorbike when everyone is busy emphasizing or living the Typical Indian Software Engineer's dream i.e., get a good job, buy a flat, get hitched, raise kids and go to hell or heaven based on your accumulated Karma,
no matter how evident your passion towards motorbikes is.

I can go on and on about all the Scale models, RC nitro bikes, SuperBike posters, Magazine cutouts I have been collecting since I was a kid and about the 24/7 thoughts about bikes in my head. But hey, who doesnt have such passionate dreams !

THE BIG UPDATE -

I rode home the Yamaha FZ1n (black) from Perfect Riders Bangalore dated 28th June 2013. Mr Naveen from Perfect riders has been more than helpful in all aspects.

This is my first ever time riding a Super bike, I believe all the Racing and Track days in south Indian tracks have conditioned me to handle this 150 horse power beast. Graduating to a liter bike from an Indian bike is very much possible and is subjective to one's discipline, perception and control of riding experience.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS -

This is a huge leap for me as far as biking as an religion is concerned. Due to my busy work schedule and engagement in academics, I was only able to ride the bike for about 20-25 kms and that experience is reassuringly sufficient for realizing the quantum shift in power delivery, raw torque and riding experience comparing it to our Indian bikes. The bike's presence is understated, people only realize it to be little different from the Fz16 when you crank the engine to life or throttle away, which in a way is good as you dont want unwanted attention when the bike is parked no matter how secure the parking facility is.

I have tried and covered the entire process of uncrating, assembly, first start and ride in videos and pics which I plan to stitch in one single video

More updates to follow !

karthik_R : hey man... hearty congratulations on the Eff-Zeee-One-Enn.
its a h00t of a bike... the tech specs of that machine are enuff to give any motorcycle enthusiast goosebumps.
i especially appreciated the discrete, understated & suave strength & appearance of the bike...
i mean, just look @ her...
she appears to say... "eh eh eh, i know i am not as eyeball grabbing as mebbe a ninja or a cbr is... but twist that wrist & i promise that u will feel ur balls in ur mouth... are u a man enuff to try me, boy..?"
this quality is a BIG BIG plus since u may safely leave the bike parked in public parking spaces, malls, etc. without every passing kid & teen wanting to pounce on her & clicking pics... damaging it in the drill!
i need not mention how it will be to ride as youtube & all other usual places have already gone gaa-gaa about this machine!
again... my hearty compliments to u & ur ride...
ride safe my friend & may the force be w/ u...
look forward to meet u on the road someday...

This is a super duper practical bike man, I am able to flick the bike into and out of corners like any other Indian bike. All of my track riding/racing is finally paying off

Thanks mate !I had considered the Honda CB1000 and Daytona 675. Well personally I feel the CB1000 @ 125 BHP is priced at 14L OTR is relatively overpriced compared to the 150 BHP FZ1. The Honda no doubt is a good bike but is too soft for my liking. Having owned the Yamaha R15 and knowing the tried & tested service network etc, this was a logical choice. The R1s, Fireblades and GSXRs are simply out of my budget. Regarding the Daytona 675, well, the launch is a mystery to me and perhaps to them as well :P They tend to shift dates quite often. Lets see, there are some solid news about Sep-oct launch. Should make for a good second sports bike !
