Superb review there Viper. I'm glad that you are enjoying the Bonnie. In will openly admit that I was surprised by your move of going in for the Bonnie when a much more capable (in my opinion) tourer was available in the Ninja 650. However, at the end of the day, whatever give you both a reason to smile can be termed as a great decision.

Tell us more on the power spread. What is the sweet spot and how what kind of RPM does it do at that sweet spot? Tell you one thing, there are gazillions of aftermarket accessories available for the Bonnie especially for touring. Check them out. A windscreen and a communication system is all that you need immediately.

Thanks NV. Till the time I did this ride I was a bit skeptical if it would be possible to do what we had in mind.. Now that we have done it I am happy that my decision turned out to be a good one. And there's an out of the world enjoyment when you can share your passion with your better half with so much comfort and ease.
I am already surfing the net to find the probable accessories I would fit on the Bonnie. The choices are enormous. Lets see how the finances permit me to get them..
I felt the power and torque are quite evenly spread out on the Bonnie. On the highway the bike feels at home. In the city the bike is too eager.. The 5th gear has a wide band of power and torque delivery.. I could go from 50 kmph to 160 kmph in a jiffy.. I do often find myself searching for the 6th gear. only to find there is none.
The bike does not feel strained at all at 120-130 kmph. Can be easily used for cruising at these speeds. I do not have a Tacho fitted on my bike as it comes as an accessory for arnd 13k bucks. So cannot comment on the rpms.. Slowly and steadily I would but get these fitted.

Congrats on the first +pillion ride. Bonnie has been possibly the best tourer in this price range if someone is into cruiser mode. I will admit that I was not into cruisers and even HD in any format doesn't make me drool. But, Bonnie is something very different in a way that I cannot put in words. I test rode this 2/3 months ago and that was it - Love at first blip of throttle. It is just perfect, something that I can live with for my whole life kinda feel.

True mate. Its a complete surprise package. I can remember the faces of countless number of car drivers on the NH4 with their heads sticking out of the window trying to comprehend which bike is this; that looks like a RE but runs like a sport bike. Zero vibes, sturdy as hell, butter smooth engine, the little silent but bassy exhaust and the relaxed position makes it a top contender for solo and 2 up touring.

You might want to experiment with some other shocks on the rear. The stock ones on the RE Continental GT should be a good fit.

Enjoy the bike to the hilt - long, long tours, nights spent on the range with you, the wife and the bike. Once the kid(s) come along, these wanderlust panderings may be few and far in between...

Sadly, I do not think that I shall join the pantheon of Bonnie babies any time soon. I have decided to get a car for the family instead. But some time in the not-too distant future, definitely!

A month of ownership complete and have clocked these many kms as of yet. I wonder how I am going to benefit from the long service intervals if I keep riding at this rate...

Have got Knee pads and the lockable fuel cap installed on the Bonnie. A sigh of relief as I can now park my bike safely and the heat from the engine does not burn my thighs. :P
Next essential accessory is the bash plate/skid plate.. A windscreen from Givi will also be on its way soon..

Did a one day ride to Shrivardhan which is approx 200 kms one way.. Accompanied by a newly owned Z800, a CBR250 and R15..While going took the Tamhini-Mangaon-Shrivardhan route.. Road condition along this route is back breaking... We were relieved once we had done with the bad patch when we neared Shrivardhan. While coming back we decided to take the Diveagar-Mangaon-Pen-Khopoli-Lonavala-Pune route. This route is in much better condition and provided some relief from the previous bad roads. Total kms done was 419 kms. This onward ride mostly allowed us to keep speeds of 60-80kmph. Mileage on this ride: Checked it when I had refilled somewhere near shrivardhan on our way back, total distance covered was 212 kms and fuel used up (tank full to tank full) 7.53 ltrs gives a whopping 28.15 kmpl. I am still baffled as much as I was when I checked it at the time of refueling. But figures dont lie hence I feel pretty good about it.

A word about the suspension:
Its goddamn hard for a solo ride. I think I have to get the preload adjusted to my weight as soon as possible. The rear is too bouncy and knocks me off my seat/sends shocks through my spine till I feel them in my head...

We had gone there on Sunday. We also visited Diveagar. Wanted to have lunch there. Sadly we reached there at 11.15am and none of the 'Khanawals' had lunch ready. It was not feasible to wait for one and a half hour so we rode back immediately.

OTR is 6.51L in Pune. I have been using usual unleaded petrol all along. No speed or power etc.... But I am refueling only at a particular petrol pump when refueling in Pune.

What is the mileage of the bike? Especially highway mileage. I know it is pointless to ask such a question for such a bike. But the thing is that my dad is planning to buy one in the next two months and will be using it for long rides and touring along with short rides.

I have quoted the mileage of the bike for each of my rides in my posts... Please refer the posts and the speeds done during the rides for the mileage to get an idea. But to summarize the bike would give a range of at least 260 kms in a tank full with sparing 2-3 ltrs in the tank.
