• Which Naked Suberbike ???????

Kawasaki Z1000( which I like even now) , been following it up from 2013 and read all the posts on xbhp another forums and saw all videos available on YouTube as i was about to pick it up in 2014 but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to drop the plan ( MOM agreed, Dad yelled 14Lac BIKE ..WTFish, u can buy another car and blah blah blah)

Now I have convinced my dad and he agreed (At last ),

In this mean while number of other bikes launched in India, Benelli, Ducati, Suzuki and most of their line ups are available in India.

I test rode all the Benelli's except for TNT1130R (Thanks to BENELLI HYDERABAD?) , loved the TNT600i and TNT 899 .

This gone be my First SBK and i have plans to keep it for LOOONG time , and I planned to buy a liter class but my friends ( experienced bikers/riders ) advised me to go for 600cc or 800cc as its more practical and easy to tame the Fire breathing monsters and they had a point.

My current Choice now are

1.Kawasaki Z1000 (1-2 months waiting period)
Inline 4,1043CC ,143BHP 11000RPM and has ABS
Easy to ride, and loved it , rode it for around 100kms and loved the pickup and the way the bike responds.

2.Benelli TNT 899 ( 2months waiting period)
Inline 3, 898 cc, 119bhp @8000rpm, No ABS
Very powerful.. (Nutsmashing), Untamed monster, needs experience to tame it, lil uncomfortable riding position for long tours.

3.Ducati 821 Monster ( 4Bikes landed in Mumbai, Delivery from July )
L-Twin, 821cc, 112bhp @9250rpm, Has ABS and 3 Engine Modes,Ride by wire
Never had a test ride , but rode the Monster 796 many times and loved each and everything the bike offers

4.Suzuki GSX-1000 ABS (No idea about the waiting period)
Inline 4, 999CC, 144bnp@10000rpm, abs, Adjustable traction control
Never test rode it

I will mostly ride it during weekends and Long trips whenever possible .

I request you to please suggest me as I am TOTALLY CONFUSED and STUCK.

Even at work all I do Is browse n read about the bikes mentioned above to make up my mind

From the 4 bikes you have listed -

1. This is an amazing machine and has tons of power and looks to die for, also a proven After Sales. You CANNOT go wrong with this machine.

2. The 899 is a bike i personally LOVE. But not something i would recommend to a first timer. It is too wild.

3. I haven't ridden the 821, but Sunny rode it recently in Thailand and found it to be extremely comfortable with more relaxed ergonomics as compared to the previous iteration. A good bike for long distances.

4. The GSX S1000. Haven't ridden it yet, will do so in a few days
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

The Ducati 821 Corse Stripe please ! Everything well built looks great in naked but this one is a special one ! Because it is a Ducati

The Z is snatchy and super aggressive. Might not find it too good in filtering through traffic or travelling long with that seat.

The 899 looks amazingly Italian, even today. But being a whole decade old, I would stay away from it.

The GSX1000 looks promising but is again a practical liter class, if ever there was one. Doesn't have the Italian oomph in spite of all the bells and whistles in it.

If you have money at your disposal and you having some good friends who is suggesting you , Why not consider the Z800. Its definitely a mean machine...if not the meanest of them mentioned above ..Has enough power on tap when needed, ABS as standard. Should keep you occupied for a long long time.

Re: Which Naked Suberbike ???????

Congratulations on getting your Dad to agree to let you buy/ride litre class bikes. Mom's are generally easier to get on your side.

I would suggest you buy the Ducati Monster 821 or the Suzuki GSX S 1000 rather than any other bike. Both bikes have ABS and riding modes with traction control which can be adjusted to your liking and even switched off if you like. Take a test ride of both bikes and see which one tickles your fancy.

I would stay far away from any of the Benelli bikes as they do not offer even ABS on any of its models. The Z1000 is equipped with ABS at least which is must in my opinion for such a powerful machine.

Safety aids like ABS and traction control with riding modes (especially for a new rider) will be of immense help and make the difference between staying on the road and crashing in tricky conditions.

All the best mate and do update us with what you finally choose.

Cheers

Re: Which Naked Suberbike ???????

The japs will give you a completely different riding experience compared to the italians. For sheer occasion and eccentric fun you cannot beat a ducati. I personally dont like them but for some it works brilliantly. The jap on the other hand functions like a well oiled machine.
You will have to closely ride them to gauge which one works for you.
Ideally you should pick up a smaller capacity bike use it for a few years and then upgrade to whatever catches your fancy then. That way when you buy the most brutal naked you ll already have some saddle time under you. Plus let me tell you, you would want to change after a few years no matter what you ride now. When I bought my bike I thought this is it. 4 years into it I am already contemplating at moving to an adventure tourer. Just a though.

I watched this video and now am in LOVE with the 821. I am crying that there is no ducati dealership in ahmedabad.

GET THE 821!
Being on two wheels is being liberated. The vastness one feels being under the open sky. The whole feeling. . . cant be described.

Ride safe, Ride long.

Why dont u consider striple or as rightfully mentioned z800. Especially striple, it's quite practical too from what I have heard.
Anyways I would suggest you to test ride suzuki and then decide. If your budget is max 14 lacs (from what i see from your post) do think about other japos ( FZ1 and CBR1000). Italians IMO are renowned for styling and exclusivity compared to others. Its the japs in biking world who are preferred for performance and customer satisfaction predominantly around the world (per a survery which was conducted across europe and US) .
But again choice is finally upto u on what u love and suits u. All the best. Do keep us updated once u pick up your dream.
