Re: Red Rose - my new Triumph Street Triple 675 RED!

I have noticed that whenever the fan kicks in, i hear a distinct vibrating sound. Is it normal? Its clearly audible. And also when i come back after a ride and park the bike in neutral, the sound of the engine changes a little. But when i shift it to first, its back to normal. Any idea sir?

Hi, in city traffic the temperature bars will stay higher - a bit above mid-point..Don't worry too much about it..It is normal for nearly all performance bikes to get relatively hot in city traffic...

Good thing is - Street Triple throws very less - almost none - hot air towards your legs and you don't get roasted even on hot sunny days..Not even as much as KTM Duke 200 did under same conditions!

        Hey taffer,

It is normal to change sound when radiator fan kicks in...That happens to all bikes with radiator fans including Duke 200.

The sound of engine keeps on changing. When neutral also, it will be slightly different if you press the clutch versus you don't press the clutch. Don't worry too much about these small things.

If at all you feel it is really worth giving more attention, then surely take it to service centre.

        UPDATE:

Had a short Sunday Morning ride to Aamby Valley road with group of Triumph Riders...Adding few pictures....Now my confidence in using the Cortech Latigo Air RR boots is increasing significantly....I hardly missed any gears today while using them...I think next ride onwards, I should be able to concentrate on cornering technique even more....Click image for larger version

Thank you for patiently answering all my questions sir. I was concerned about these trivial isues only because the bike is pre owned. And yes I'm taking her to service in a coupla weeks.

Drop by if you are coming down on the 21-22 Feb weekend. There's also a CTC event in which prominent bikers will share their experience on touring. Do join if you are in town. The following weekend am out for a tour to Andhra.

Thank you for letting me know. But I'm not coming to Chennai. Instead I'm going to Cochin. It's much nearer. Hopefully I'll get to meet you guys soon.

new pics Jeevan. Think i might have crossed you a couple of times in Hinjewadi, though i go in the opposite direction i.e. from Hinjewadi to SB road. Next time you you see a screaming / waving rider on a D390 - do rev the bike so that i can hear the sweet sound while going past

I don't know any other active Street Triple threads so posting here,
For the stalling issues, those who are facing, has anyone tried fuel injector cleaners?

Changed the tyres to Michelin Pilot Road 2 in the front and Pilot Power 3 in the back. Took the bike to a hill station called Valparai. Amazing location and smooth roads. A must go for corner cravers. It has 40 hairpin bends in a span of 30kms and most importantly no pot holes and almost no traffic. Now i can say i am used to the bike. Confidence inspiring in the corners. Very stable.
But the most important thing is I FACED THE INFAMOUS STALLING ISSUE for the firstime when riding downhill, taking a turn in the 2nd gear and the bike just shut its engine off. Thankfully i managed to start it again and kept riding. Of the 400 kms i rode 90 was in hills in which 10 was in 1st gear and almost no road and about 15 was inside a city with crawling traffic and the rest on good smooth roads. The instrument panel displayed 4.6 L per 100 kms. Not bad at all. Apart from the stalling issue i found that the bike loses some power when the engine is too hot and the radiator fan kicks in.

Thanks. Will try but Do we have to completely dry the tank to fill this?

Sorry to hear about the stalling issue. Poor management spoiling ownership experience of an excellent product.

The instructions say to mix it with the fuel. No need for a dry tank. The whole bottle goes with 35-40 litres of petrol. So one can use accordingly for a bike.

Taffer - when you say stalling was faced, what were circumstances? Like you are on a declining slope + a curve and hence you are downshifting just before the apex and when doing so you end up pressing the clutch fully for a second while your RPMs were already dropping as you have been decelerating while approaching that curve - is that when this happens? Because I did ride to LAVASA and Lonavala few times but yet to see this kind of issue - my ODO now about 3300 km...

Two things can be looked at to solve the stalling issue. Firstly change the oil to Motul 300v. Secondly since the bike has a stepper motor. Cleaning it for dirt or other obstruction could be a possible solution. A stepper motor takes care of the idling using the ECU. It should be located next to the throttle body rack.
Personally i would remove the stepper motor and adjust the idle manually to see if the problem persists. The idea is to eliminate the variables one by one.

The clutch i think wasnt engaged at all because i was negotiating a tight curve. It all happened so fast and my focus was on getting the bike started. Will note down these things if it happens again. And yes i was climbing downhill and it happened before the turn. But that's all i could remember.

Yes, don't do any of these things at home - smallest mistake could turn out to be very costly - especially if some small particles or strand falls inside the throttle bodies!
