    IMPORTANT UPDATE.
Guys, i took the bike for service to Cochin showroom and complained about the stalling issue (which happened 10 times before i reached there). They cleaned the air filter and throttle bodies and to my surprise, the engine never stalled after that. The service guy said its because of the dust settled in there. But they made a small scratch on the tank which removed the paint and is easily visible. They said they'll patch it next time. I also noticed that the engine is really not happy in stop go traffic. Anyways, i clocked 1600 kms in 25 days and i am very happy with the bike. Filling her up with premium petrol definitely makes the engine run smooth.

Heartiest Congrats Paritosh! Street is a pretty good bike - I also think Triumph India is closer to a permanent solution on stalling issue. I have still not faced it - I went to Wai MApro with several other riders (Triumph and others also) for something called "Safety Ride". Anyway, while going I found few open stretches and was able to reach 187 kmph once and 170+ several times...

While coming back, I found a particularly clean empty stretch where the road is a bit raised and there is minimal danger of someone running across in that area...
I saw 195 kmph on speedo for a moment and that means now I have equaled my own highest speed on two wheeler anywhere in the world so far Previously I had done 195 kmph in Germany - but that time I had a pillion and had to back off due to him getting too scared (scared is understatement really!)

This time I was solo - but Indian conditions being much more dangerous, it was a small achievement in itself

Next I am hoping for crossing 200 kmph when I go for a longer ride somewhere outside Maharashtra (possible on Pune-Bangalore road beyond Kolhapur - Nipani)...

Also, with every ride into the twisties (Lavasa, Aamby valley road etc), my confidence in turns is also better..Need to keep riding the twisties to sharpen skills...

      Hey Taffer,

Let's hope for the best...Triumph Pune guys were saying that a permanent solution is expected soon but till then getting throttle bodies and air filter cleaned every 5000 km is a working solution.

Regarding engine not being happy in stop-go traffic - well more than engine, it is down to tall gearing of Street Triple. First gear is quite tall and hence it requires getting used to initially..

      FACT !!
No, I don't think so - anybody who is consumer of such a big ticket item will surely complain if he/she finds issues...

Someone who bought the bike almost at same time as me saw this stalling issue happening for the first time yesterday (28-Feb).

Strangely, Daytona being a more aggressive bike which should ideally be even more sensitive to dust or poor fuel etc - very few of Daytonas are facing this issue (there are couple of them but almost all are not facing).

I am yet to see this issue and anyway, I will not sell off my bike anytime soon as this is first and probably last superbike I bought in my life - after using this for few years may be I will go back to smaller bike I am hoping that this prediction fails though

        Update:

I am nearing 4100 km on the odometer now - so far not observing the infamous stalling issue. I have deliberately checked quite a few times by completely pressing clutch at traffic signals or when slowing down from moderate speeds to zero at junctions.

Hey guys, can you suggest me a decent bike cover for the street triple?

Check earlier parts of my thread - I have bought RJAY'S bike cover (it is an Australia based brand) from Bachoo motors.
(I did online purchase - Bachoo Motors). It is a pretty good cover with soft fleece lining inside which will not cause scratches on your bike's colour - especially Petrol Tank paint could be vulnerable to scratches.

            UPDATE:

Went for a morning ride to Bhigwan (Pune-Solapur Road). Got few empty stretches to and fro....
I became particularly happy because I have broken the 200 kmph barrier...

            It felt special!!

Street Triple even in stock condition still packs a lot of punch which was evident - hitting 170-180 kmph is no big deal though 200+ needs a bit of time...I managed to hit 202 kmph for a second or two...

Surely I will wait for the time when I gather my finances back and upgrade it back to or at least very close to original Euro spec 106 BHP (air intake + ECU remap + Arrow Exhaust)..Plus I am also thinking of going for a smaller sized sprocket - many Street Triple owners have done this change and have found it useful...

Hi .... Are you sure you can get the indian street triple from 79bhp to 106bhp just by Air intake,Arrows and ECU remap??? Because I am in the process of buying street triple here in bangalore and i have spoken to sales personnel and manager extensively regarding this topic. They have clearly said a maximum of 10-11 bhp is gained with all the above installed ie making it around 91bhp . And also they clearly said for ECU its just an adaption remap for the arrows and not remapped to get the maximum output....

Please let me know if i am missing anything

                Hi Anoop,

You are right in a way - probably with modifications, Indian Street Triple may not still get exact Euro Specs. But let me tell you that anything above 200 kmph is mostly an academic discussion which has no limit. But reality is different.

While I am no super skilled racer or something, I am quite fast and have hit 180-190 many times..Yet, it was not very easy to go beyond 200 kmph (the bike goes past 200 kmph rather quickly - but getting opportunity to open throttle to that level is not so easy!). I did that only once so far in 6 months - that was last Sunday!!

Do not get hung up about modifications and absolute power figures. One person on Hayabusa may not beat you even if you are on Street Triple - if that guy won't know how to really make use of Hayabusa!! So first thing would be to upgrade to this category of bike and become really proficient in handling it without getting in trouble.

After that you can think of upgrades and all that - Euro spec or not - the fact is that modified Street Triple beats every other bike in 600-800 cc category.

You need to inquire more about STALLING issues before buying. I have crossed 4500 km but not seen this issue. Many have reported this so better to get clarity...If this issue didn't get reported, I would have recommended to buy Street rather than anything else!

                  Hi Jeevan,

You are absolutely right saying that Specifications and performance on the road can be 2 different things. I have noticed that despite all this news about bike being 79bhp , the bike still felt powerful for me . And its not that I am not used to power, In fact I have been riding Duke 390 for almost 2 and half years now. I have test ridden street triple and found it too good in terms of feel, handling and power. However I have been caught between buying street triple , z800 or the monster. Monster here in bangalore is 2 laks more than Street triple and z800 is almost the same in pricing. I have not test ridden z800 or monster. But reading the whole of your posts from the beginning I feel Street triple is better all rounder than the other two. In fact I would only take my bike on weekends hence performance matters little more for me. Reading your review I feel it is as fast as z800 and only little slower than monster.

And Stalling issue I asked the sales reps and they seem to assure that the problem has come to few owners and they have rectified it. I will ask them to give detailed explanation about it next time.

If you'll take out the bike only on weekends then I think the Z800 would be a better choice for you.

Z800 is better value for money - despite buying Street Triple, I still have that opinion. But the problem is, when you are entering this segment, it is less objective and more subjective topic. Also, though you are saying riding only during weekend, I am sure when you buy this kind of a bike (whichever it is) you will be addicted to it within 3-4 days and would not like to ride anything else at any time....

Now a days whenever I ride any other bike or scooty I feel like I am going in a slow motion and it is like a torture! 80 kmph now feels like pedestrian and 120 kmph is just about average! Only 150 kmph or above seems like reasonable speed

Kawasaki is heavy, has long turning radius and has relatively uncomfortable seat - that is my impression from test ride which was below 5 km. If you can obtain longer ride through friends or showroom, your feeling may change. Straight line acceleration of Kawasaki Z800 is INSANE! Street Triple with modifications can indeed beat unmodified Z800. But then you do get modifications for Z800 also. Ultimately the point is that you will not everyday indulge in drag racing - it will more be about personal pleasure you derive from the ride. Somehow, on that count, Street Triple scores as per my subjective opinion. The more I ride it, the more I like it - but may be Z800 owners also would be feeling the same.

Due to heavy weight, the handling may be marginally less sharp on Z800 - but remember that Z800 has both FRONT and REAR suspension as ADJUSTABLE while Street Triple has only Rear adjustable. So when needed, you can stiffen the Z800 for better handling or soften for better comfort at both ends...It does have few plus points apart from price. Z800 engine is silky smooth as well, it has more brutal alien like appearance and with right exhaust modifications, it has equally good exhaust note..

Street Triple though has more Jekyll and Hyde character...Which I like! Below 4-5000 RPM, it is very civilized but if you give it a strong twist of the wrist, then it transforms into very aggressive beast - with modifications, it pulls like crazy 5000 RPM onwards and you really have to experience that difference - it feels like you have got into some automatic sports mode! Z800 is far more linear in behaviour.

So, overall both are evenly matched bikes and you won't go wrong with either..If Triumph India does answer Stalling issue, then Street Triple surely is an excellent choice and I would really recommend in that case.

Aisa nahi hota hai bhai - once you buy it, you will get addicted and ride it even if there is no reason! Telling from own experience man - now I am simply finding out excuses to ride it even when not needed

Street Triple is a very good choice! Heartiest congratulations - as I said it is something very subjective - I went for this bike and now you have gone too - let's ride!

Have you bought the Arrow exhaust as well? I am waiting for my finances to become better but I am going to do it sure as soon as I have the money

                          UPDATE:

In recent times, I had 2 test ride opportunities!

                          1) Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 - Absolutely stunning bike! Eye watering price (22 L on road in Pune - likely to increase another 2-3 % due to MH state tax increase recently)..
It just pops wheelies like crazy..It is so light, so quick, so easy to control and yet so easy to pull nice stunts even for people with limited stunting capabilities like me! The sound is amazing, the pick up is rocking! I have not enough words for this bike...If somebody does have so much money, it will be well spent on this motorcycle - it is entirely deserving that high price tag!

                          2) Ducati Monster 821 (V2) - Beautiful, but didn't feel great (it feels really odd that I am talking something like this about revered DUCATI!) It has nice growl though not refined wail like inline triple or four engine..Comfort etc ok...But seating position is rather odd - compared to Street Triple...I prefer my street triple compared to this bike and happy with my choice...

Great to see that you test rode Tuono and monster.... Was particularly interested to know how monster would be since its sort of a competition to street triple... good to hear that you prefer street more .

Regarding the accessories , I have opted for fly screen, led indicators, fork protection and frame protection. I will install Arrows only after I do considerable amount of mileage on the bike.

Did you test ride these in showrooms or friends bikes?

                                Hi friend,

Each of the bikes I have test ridden at the showroom of respective brands.

                                1) Aprilia Motoplex - It is bang on Pune-Ahmednagar Road @ Yerawada - They give you test rides of all 3 brands available there - Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Vespa. When I went there, Moto Guzzi was already given to some media/magazine folks but I was more interested in Aprilia Tuono anyway which I did get to ride for 4-5 km.

                                2) Ducati - Bavaria Motors - This is fairly close to Pune station. One has to continue from Pune station on same main road towards Central Mall (now it is defunct though). Just before the bridge (I think that is Sangamwadi bridge from where you go towards Yerawada) there is one signal. The showroom is right at that signal.

Ducati looks very beautiful but it is not necessarily a competition to Street Triple. It is costlier (10+ lakhs ex-showroom so on-road would go to 11.5-12 Lakhs - for that price you can buy Speed Triple or Suzuki GSX-1000-S which is a superior powerful bike - but yes, none of these look as good as Ducati)

Ducati being a V-twin - or rather L-Twin engine, it tends to vibrate a bit and doesn't feel refined like the Street. Also, in modified avatar, Street is nearly as powerful as the Ducati Monster 821 though Ducati has more sophisticated electronics. Somehow, street has perfect sitting position and ergonomics that make it very suitable to day to day usage and also it has perfectly capable engine and chassis to enjoy fast riding and cornering during weekends. Sitting position on Monster 821 felt a little odd (it is down to daily habit factor as well - if I use Monster everyday, then may be I will feel Street has odd position if I suddenly sit on Street).

Also the sound - Monster has a fairly loud sound when you rev high while stock street is more silent - but with Arrow, Street sounds very good - better than Ducati anyday.

Couple of Triumph owners also have Ducati Monster/Scrambler etc - but even they prefer Street Triple for regular usage because they said Ducati heats up a bit in slow moving traffic. Street is the bike that gives minimal heat to your feet in traffic jams - far less than any superbike and even less than Duke 200, Duke 390...

Benelli 899 would be the only other bike that would not give you heat in traffic jam as it has unique sideways dual radiators (one each on left and right side of the bike).

Now, about Aprilia Tuono - it didn't give out heat at least when I tried out - but hell, it might be giving also - it was so fast that I didn't notice anything absolutely...I didn't use anything more than 30-40% of the throttle I guess and already I started feeling like my Street Triple is like a SCOOTY!! It is that much fast!!
