Congrats! Personally, I've always had a thing for these '80s bikes. Something about them just makes me go weak in the knees. The old CBZ had that charm.10 Commandments:

3)Thou shalt respect one's own bike.
4)Love thy bike as thy self.
5)Always wear safety gear.
6)Alcohol is a strict NO!
7)Thou may lust after thy neighbour's bike specially if its of the R1 kind!
8)Thou shalt ride with 'ultra-most' care and caution when on Indian roads.
9)Thou shalt never leave the engine running at long traffic halts.
10)Thou shalt follow all of the above.

ZX-750 as they were known, you probably got a J-1 model. A perfect thing to begin with & the things grows on you. Later when it became ZX-7, they had perfect the fatty (as it's fondly called) and bullet-proofed it. Enjoy while the sun is shining. Take her, throw her around and she will still love being taken out to the hills. I know it personally, the feeling of being on a SEVEN.

hey...i dint get a single mail abt these replies. am subscribed to this thread. anywayz...
oh yea...i know that place..also known as quincy market. been to that place recently...yup...nice food...from all over the world. but...I could not taste all of them coz am a vegetarian and that place is a must go for sea-food lovers.Originally posted by Shivanshu View PostI think it is Faneuil Hall Marketplace, its near New England Aquarium, I just loved the food out their and yeah even went to see Charlestown - Navy Yard.... so yeah it was great. thanks MG. well...i have read a lot abt the kwacker mania...still in the starting stages of experiencing it....will definitely post my experiences.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostCongrats mate.A kwaker will always be a kwaker be it a 88 model or 08 model

yo man....thank you. where are you right now ? not to be seen at all....wassup ??? totally away from the hyd biking scene ? kriss and others are still keeping it alive...perhaps u dint meet those guys.Originally posted by Ranjith View Posthey srikar, remember me? congrats yaar, finally you got one and started riding... ride safe man and take it easy.
thank you!Originally posted by Devilpulsarian View PostCongos for the big kwacker bro...
well...i have answered this before. there are quiet a few reasons for me to choose such an old bike.Originally posted by krishank View Postdont you think '89 model is like too old....

for me... i would think once before i bike that is my age.....

which uni are you in? just asking....
1) anyone's guess....cost.
2) never rode a sports bike before. so i was actually looking for something around 500cc or lesser. but bought this coz this is milder than the new kwackers which are just ready to jump from the word go.
3) well...as any one who has ridden for a while knows, even a 1980 well maintained bike would run like a brand new one. infact my bike (attested by some very experienced bikers/racers here) can give a brand new 750 or 600 a run for its money! and considering the brand....any bike from the stable of 4 japs, bmw can be a safe bet....age doesnt matter...but its maintenance does.
4) this comparison might not be correct..its jus an observation...but the tech used in my '88 ninja is not seen in any of the bikes in india. the comparison might be lame(n am not blaming the indian manufacturers for it)...but consider the time...its 2009, 20years...the bike if launched as is in india...still stands out among any indian bike. it has got everything that we were(and still are) looking forward in a pulsar/cbz(from 99 ???)
so...considering all these facts...am very very satisfied with my purchase. i was riding a pulsar 150 CL back in india....a 12hp machine....now am riding a 105hp machine....am satisfied by the performance and quality of ride am getting for the price i paid.
i would go for a newer/better machine when I cud afford it. so...its the same constraint that i had in india...MONEY...hehe.
And yea....I am in Northeastern University, Boston.
haha....busa...enti edo ?? eppudu konnaav ???Originally posted by kriss View PostGlad that you still remember me... A counter answer

you have a PM btw...
i might not come to india for another year atleast....i`ll finish my masters in april 2010...so might come after that. not sure though. have you got any plans of coming to US by any chance ? lemme know.
BTW...i dint get your PM .....my inbox says 0 total messages
.
I really cant say anything about it. I have never ridden a brand new kwacker to compare both. So, as before, i just read these comments from ppl who have ridden both, and wait to experience the difference!Originally posted by 46wannabe View PostCongrats! I had ridden it for about 1000 miles as yet. the generator belt broke n its been lying idle for a while now. planning to go on a long ride(say 500miles) before the summer ends..Originally posted by given2fly View PostZX-750 as they were known, you probably got a J-1 model. Thanks bro!Originally posted by dhairya View PostA very belated congrtulations!
i saw on NESR that you are having trouble with the bike...Is it solved?
well...after 15days of wait, i got the belt and fixed it...but it broke again after a week's use....came to know later that there is a spl tool for adjusting the tension on the belt. so now the hunt is on for finding this tool. already placed an order for another belt. might have the bike running by this weekend again.
hahaha....well....i spent an year here looking and staring at bikes in parking lots and on the roads....of all things indian...i missed my pulsar the most here. i somehow controlled it for an year but bought a bike as soon as i couldOriginally posted by dhairya View PostMan, sometimes i wish i had not got a boke there....I mean I miss it so much now! hoep same does not happen to you and you find a good job there
. as you said...when i come back to india after a few years...the only things i might miss are the roads and the chance to experience the best in biking.
And DG....times will improve...and as I type this....I see your eyes stuck to the new p220 :P .

and heyy...how could i forget this...!!!
last weekend...I attended an Experienced Motorcycle Rider course. The basic rider course is for noobs. . I learned the intricacies of cornering, braking and stuff like that....on a sports bike.
the highlight of that day for me was....i got to ride a 2008 suzuki gsxr 750 ..

for about 100 miles. I really dont have the vocab for writing the joy that it was. A very good person from NESR, Derek lent me his bike for the course coz my bike is broke. He is the one helping me fix my bike as well.

all through the way...i was cruising at 85mph. The max I cud do was 110mph. which I never did on my ninja. I took it upto 85-90mph once or twice...dint want to get a speed ticket while in my permit itself
