    Good news guys

The mechanic called me up and informed that he has arranged for a cylinder kit and would go for a first oversize piston. I guess that should do the trick.

Would get the bike tomorrow. Now would go for a tire after this.

Suggestions for tire (for street use and not offroading) needed

Did that mechanic arranged a used one? If yes then do check if it is sleeved or not. Mechanics usually play tricks like this

yup...he only told us to check if the cylinder is sleeved or not if we get one before he do!!

He's kinda trusted mechanic and does a good job for a nominal price...

will have to get a first oversize piston for the same

          Hello,

One advice from my side, concentrate on the engine part first. Especially the Barrel (Bore Kit), instead of going for a used one, try to get a new box piece. Later you can concentrate on the body works.

Also, if you don't have money right now, you can always postpone the re-build & start collecting money for the same. Please remember an average rebuild (Engine + Body) will cost you more than 40K INR.

All the very best for your rebuild.

PS: Lot of advice can be given, but everything has a price tag to it. So depending on what your budget is, advice can be given.

            Update Update!!!

Well, didn't have to wait for long to get the engine work done. Got the bike a couple of hours ago and oh boy, the engine feels a lot smoother. The engine asks me to push it to limit but I held the horses patiently and never crossed 40kmph. Running on 3% 2T mix for the time being to allow carbonization of the engine parts.

            *Running Advice Needed*
Spent a total of 5k on the engine work with replacement of major things as:

            Cylinder Kit: Rs. 1800
            Piston: Rs. 590
            Crank Assembly: Rs. 570
            2 Main Bearings: Rs. 310
            Misc: Rs. 1730

            Total: Rs 5000

Have some amount left in the pocket. Confused as to where to start the cosmetic stuff from? Paint, meter, mudguard, light, switches, wiring...everything has to be changed.

            *Advice Needed Again*

                    Update Update!!!

                    Hey Guys!

Rode the bike for a little more than 100km today. Had to get the lock set replaced and was left with some time to wheeze around on the rxz as running in has to be completed. Kept the horses under control, however I did push the bike to around 80kmph.

But when the bike was at around 80-90kmph, it was "jerking" as if its lacking fuel (any comments on this?).

As far as the FE of the bike is concerned, i guess its returning a decent FE as i filled up the tank with RS 150 (3% 2T) and no sign of bike being hitting the reserve.

                      Don't push to 80 !!!

That jerk u felt was start of seizure Never push to 80 again for at least 1,000 kms.

                      Rs 150 = approx 3litre of petrol
Still on ON, means your bike is giving around 50kmpl !! Run it a bit rich in running period.

ya...its running on rich fuel mixture...

i guess i read somewhere that we should not run the bike continuously at a constant speed...thats y pushed it a bit to break the monotony...and that too only for a few seconds...may be 5-7 secs...

                        would attach the pics soon

Kindly complete your run-in period (Atleast 1000Kms) & then try to open full throttle in each gear & let us know what top-speeds you achieve & was there any missing/fluttering etc encountered in each gear. I assume you are running a stock 4-speed barrel (4TL00).

And yes, the bike desperately needs a re-build, it really looks totally shagged at the moment. Take your time in this, but prepare a plan of things which you want to do & then ask for review by senior members here.

Also, Rs.5000/- seems way too less for me as far as engine re-build is concerned. Please do some study on RX series bikes, maybe better to go through some re-build threads here to get a rough idea about RX.

                              Hope this helps.

P.S: Kindly replace those Speedo+Tacho combo.

Yup, the bike is running with a faulty meter. It was not actually working when I got the bike.I somehow got it repaired only to know the kilometer reading for the running in. Would be replacing the entire cosmetic thing soon.
