  • two wheel drive rd 350

hi guys. I know this kinda of insane but some people of DAV college have made a 2 wheel drive RD350. Actually there is science projects competion is going on in our school so called "KHOJ". Various schools have participated and its all that science stuff except this. This is an entry from the side of a college. 4 third year students have made a 2 WHEEL drive bike.
in this there is pipe extended to the front wheel , like that of the speedos
this join a gear system in front which in turn turns the wheel couldnt get much info today because it was all crowded. But got some photos, as follows...

It seems that they have connected the gears with the rotating wire, like it is done in the SPEEDO meter. i pray to the god that the RD gets back to the shape after this all is done. though its a good atempt

            @ sunny-thnkx 4 aproval
well even i don know y an rd
i guess either for it's power or they dont know the importance of an RD
they didnt even knew the torque and BHps of the stock bike......
niether the percentage distribution of power.
they say it has no practicle purpose in daily life except if you are using it in field or on slope.
moreover they are developing this bike for dirt bike racing

yamaha did some like that a couple of years ago. it was a concept dirt bike with the drive wires in the forks.

yamaha makes bikes like that for the dakar. i think a few years ago they made a 2wd R1 as well

the yamaha that took part in the dakar sent power to the front wheel only when the rear lost traction.

i'd have expected a less powerful bike to be used in a project like this. the gearing most probably has bevel gears as well

a few bicycles on the market with the 2wd concept sold by JEEP and HUMMER (of all things)

that "pipe" just transfers power to the front wheel. It basically is a flexible axle and not a pipe. you can see them used in polishing devices. Makes the vehicle highly unstable unless the power is monitored.

Another idea is to generate some air pressure and drive the front wheel using a turbine.

The best thing is to use a in-wheel drive (batpod anyone).

It is a hydraulic system which by the help of liquid pressurizes the front wheel to rotate it is not a very beneficiary system.

The bike in the pictures does not have a hydraulic or pneumatic drive... What u see is a simple flexible shaft, similar in build to to your speedometer cable or the dentists drill for that matter, but more robust.

This is one of the crude systems... the most efficient systems are the hydraulic ones and also the most simple. One simply runs a hyraulic pump off the drive shaft and the oil is then routed to a motor in the front or rear hub which drives the wheel. The beauty of this system is that one can regulate the flow of oil and thus the amount of power transmission to the front wheel.

they crucified a LORD for a project! what an enthusaism, anyways, the concept is good only if the power to the fron wheel is in harmony to the rear wheel, else it could be a front wheel drive ike as in the PHAT PHAT SEWA of OLD DELHI!
BTW< do u guys know tht the PHAT PHAT sewa that we used to have sometime bck in old delhi were Harlay Davidson Bikes in original.?
