They were supposed to start with the 5-speed stuff in November ... have not spoken with my contact yet ... but will find out ...

For 5-speed, I recently paid 2X the cost price of the OE ART Pistons (1st and 2nd OS)

That stays the same till Yamaha start selling from the factory shop again ... heheh I also got OE RX100 block Piston for 7500 ... and this is not the crappy Delhi/Thailand make ... this is OE Escorts ... expensive, but block pistons are not available in the Factory shop

I beg to differ sir .. RX has never given up on me ... I rode it back home 17 km after the Mumbai deluge (2 feet water) on 25/26 july 2005...

Pls also note that Yamaha India are STILL Manufacturing RX100 bikes for the EXPORT market... hence spares are available in abundance .... please contact your local Yamaha Factory shop and they will give u details
God bless you for this info This sounds like heaven!! Any idea if this place has an Ferrari Red RX100 fuel tank?

I would like to share my thoughts on this topic.

Shanudamian - You can very well go for RX100 86 model if you find all right.
The current status of RX is not present. It's only the passion for RX you will find people going for RX restoration and keeping it. If you intend to keep it for longer period then you'll need to back yourself with spares. That's the most important. As such there is quite a demand for spares and down few years might find even more difficult.

            1. Buy RX100
            2. Buy Spares (backup)
            3. keep her happy.

Maintaining an RD350 is way more difficult than an RX or a Shogun. Hence if a guy already has some serious experience of rebuilding an RD, i am sure he can replicate the same with his RX as well. Hope it is clear this time.

The tanks are kept behind a glass display casing ... looks like it is in the open due to the low resolution of the pic.

Thats what I meant man. If he can maintain an RD, why think twice to buy an RX? I can understand if a guy thinking over this if this is his first two-stroke. But here, thats not the case.

Got it from my local Yamaha dealer it has all the paperwork (bill, inspection check etc etc) and yes the Yamaha 3D hologram stickers all over it. The guy at the spare parts counter even showed me the safexpress shipping receipt that doubled up the proof that it was shipped by YMI to the store

                            To the OP
The first thing one should do is check out if there is a "competent/experienced" mechanic in their vicinity and not to mention the guy should have proper tools. We have nobody and I mean nobody who has proper knowledge about RXs. My mechanic used to pour 400 to 450 ml in the gearbox, screw the dipstick in all the way and show me that the oil was at the required level and I being a n00b blindly trusted him. Little did I he know you have to let the dipstick rest on the threads not screw it in all the way to check the oil level what a dipshit and obviously that resulted in worn out clutch plates and pressure plates. From hole blown in a std size piston running with a sleeve (high heat range spark plug the mechanic blamed the sleeve) to being run severely lean I mean as lean as the carb would go the engine has seen it all lol but it has never given up on me NEVER. Until now, even though I am learning how to tune her and maintain her properly (all thanks to the marvelous workshop manual and the collective intelligence that is xBhp) my RX can rape any god damned super splendor, FZ in a quarter mile. I have even given apache 160 owners tough competition on my RX (she runs on RX135 jets now and the guy was dumb at shifting). Putting it all down get a good mechanic, build her up from scratch and she will NEVER fail you .PERIOD. the motor is that god damned good

@dafc - its not only knowledge or tools, even if they've everything or nothing, all mechanics are cons!!! They take you for a ride along with your vehicle. There might be one in a million who're genuine, but they'll also be turned to theives soon. Best way is build up the knowledge by working on your own vehicle.

touche'!! totally agree with you! But it takes a lot of patience and determination to learn how to build her up man. The bug of getting the sweet spot from the RPM and the air screw has bitten me on my ass one times too many and the last time when I was on phone with you lol I got the tunning right by chance lol From what I have observed if a mechanic is not genuine he will free rev your RX to the moon trying to rape all the top end and the bottom end bearings so they give up and you go running back to em. We have loads of genuine enfield mechanics up here and they never I mean everrr free rev an engine up to red line
