  • Suzuki Samurai Re-painting.

First of all my knowledge on bikes is very limited, and before I get a paint job done I want to know how much it will cost me as I don't want to get ripped off,

I have a 1995 model Suzuki Samurai, it was not used since the last 2 years,

The engine has been serviced recently (changing oil, cleaning carburetor, putting new clutch, brake cables and brake-shoes etc.),

The bike runs very well and has a great pickup, the mileage is around 50kmpl,

But the bike needs to be re-painted, some issues are:-

    1. Wheel spokes of both front and back tyres are fully rusted, even the rim is rusted, the exhaust pipe is also partially rusted.

    2. Paint from the tank is fading off, and the side fibers on both sides are missing.

    3. Handle bars are partially rusted.

What I would like to do:-

    >Paint the tank, full engine block, exhaust completely black
    Get black plastic fibers.

    >Paint the rim, spokes(of both wheels) and mud-guard either black or chrome (which would look better?)

    >Paint the handle bars black or chrome (Again which would look better?)

Checkout the pics, and what would the total cost including labour and material cost me?

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    PS:-
(OPTIONAL)How much would this type of engine guard cost? Both fibre and metal?

        Sir,

I happened to read a lot of your posts and find them to be full of valuable details. Could you please guide me to a person who stocks 3m original stickers in India. Also what parts would I need to stock up for my Samurai as I intend to keep it with me for a lifetime.

PS: tried to send a pm but I am shown the message your inbox is full.

        Regards,

        Srikanth Y

I would have replaced the rim & spokes instead of going through the hassle of re-chroming it, considering the amount of rust on them. Also, handle bar & crashguard shouldn't cost you much, maybe ~Rs.600. Why not replace that too?

I see your RHS fork inner tube rusted. Not too sure if it can be salvaged.
