170Kms on a scooty, man are you sure there were no heating issues? And how many stops did you take?
No heating issues as such... and regarding stops.. well travelling at 40 kmph stops hardly matter... had lost count of them..

I'm in a similar process. Almost finished with the rebuild of my sister's old Bajaj Spirit. It was a good scoot and still gives a mileage of around 45kmpl

First of all, good luck,my geography ma'am also had scooty es black cloured, when she goes back to her home near by us,me and all my friends were on our bicycles, she drive it like a superbike wearing a pilot like helmet looking in front,we say hey look look... Ma'am is going on her hayabusa, and sadly she had met an accident on her scooty and her leg was fractured while turning, you know lucknow roads are very dangerous for two wheelers.we felt very sad about her.

The joy of watching an old possession being brought back to old glory is really unexplainable.

Did a similar rebuild out of a junk Kinetic Honda. Bought it for 3000/- along with transfer. and spent about 20k on it bringing it back to new form. All original parts except for a very few ones. The stickering was done to a ZX sport one and it was awesome looking bike after the rebuild was finished. Sourcing original parts for kinetic was a tough job though.

Sadly and really sadly only after 4 months of rebuild my wife and daughter had a big accident on it coming back from school. Both had stitches and bruises which have healed over time but the trauma hasn't and so my wife never rides a 2 wheeler now.

Eagerly awaiting progress pics of the rebuild Karthik Sir.

We have a tvs scooty es(first model with square headlight) which my aunt was using. I rebuilt it recently as nothing on it was working and it took me 6 days to rebuilt from ground up and now she is working like the day she came from showroom.

                        Update

I know this is taking a lot of time, but has to blame it on spares (TVS has already stopped production of many critical items for scooty, damn!!!). Anyways with the kind of support i have i did finally manage to source in all the necessary parts (especially the fiber & plastic ones).

                        Some pics attached.

Next up, Reboring & Porting of Cylinder.

                          Rebore & Port Job

The bore had run ~ 30000Kms on the STD size piston, even though i have a stock of brand new Piston-Cylinder Kit, i opted for a rebored & ported setup first.

Used a 1st O/S SAM piston kit & the cylinder was sent for reboring. After the kit came back we started the port polishing & main porting job. I have never seen anything this small!!!!!!! Really can't imagine this tiny baby pumps out 3.5BHP @ Crank.

Some pics during the process. Enjoy!!!!!

                              Update

Some pics during the rebuild process. And an almost finished Scooty.

Will post the ride report & full specs with costing once the vehicle is handed over to me.

This definately has not been an easy task for me as far as sourcing the parts are concerned. We had got this done through 3 different sources & was finally achieved with lot of patience. Lot of fake or local stuffs have come up, but my tuner himself insisted on OE spares & hence this build has taken these many days.

Once again i am very lucky to have a friend like him who indeed has helped me yet again. As you all are aware this build was something very different & special for me & hence i wanted nothing less than factory finish.

If you notice even the front panel & side panels are not painted by us, but OE stuffs.

Overall i am very very happy with the results. Will need to check if the engine build holds up.
