own a P200 n am savin up for some time now to buy an RX as my next bike along with my 200.......its a very important step for me as im puttin all my own cash.....so i need to know exactly from you RX owners what exactly i need to know about the bike before i buy it.........heres what am looking for (lookin to buy an RX 100)
    1. I want a preety crappy condition bike(not engine n carb) coz i want to build her up from scrtach

    2. I want a how u say virgin engine.....lol unbored unported n fidled around with.....so how do i know on terms of sound alone when i start the bike that the bike is clean.....

    3. availability of spares: will i easily get RX 100 panels n body decals at yamaha outlets or i have to order them or ill get them at local dealers around albeit some third party companies,

    4. year of the bike is not an issue for me although i want proper papers of the bike

    5. will i get engine parts like piston, silencer, piston rings, etc etc etc. . . . . . easily? n the carburettor as well in case it needs to be changed

    6. the above mentioned needs state i want an RX in bone stock condition n no matter even if the body has fallen apart.....SO WHAT YOU GUYS THINK I SHUD GET A BIKE IN SUCH CONDITION FOR?

my budget is 5-7K will i get anything in this budget?

u'll get a crappy rx in even 3k.but that's the scene here.
a total rebuild will cost 8k-15k, excluding cost of the bike.
since u want a complete rebuild, check the frame, crankcase, swingarm, and gears.
if all these r ok,u'll be gud to go.
but, remember, a proper rebuild will cost u more than a gud bike.some have even spent urto 20-25k on rebuilds.
so decide ur money.as where it can go.
all parts of rx-100/135 can be found quite easily.
u'll have problem finding rxz cosmetics and such
as for the cost of spares, all are approx
      bore-3500
      shocks-750
      forks-1200
      crank-3200
silencer-chrome, not catcon,costs1500 the last time i checked.
      the crank case covers -3000
      swingarm-800 to 1200(not sure)
      frame-3500
so that there itself is around 17k
now, u'll have to add the new bearings, repainting and all such "small" stuff
of'course there are always alternatives.u can hunt a few junkyards or scrap dealers for gud used goods.that way it may cost 8-10k.
get ur priorities right.or u'll end up spending a lot.

I went to the junkyard and picked 2 RXG bores and one 5 speed bore..all at 0.75mm oversize..Cost me 600 buks for the lot :P

but yea..spares are getting expensive by the day..cranks seem impossible to find already..Good option is to get a second hand crank and get the malay RXK conrod just make sure the crank is std pin thats all

I too am interested in picking up an RX100 around 5K and restoring it. I have a few questions though -

->How much will a re-bore and port job cost approximately ?
->If the bore has to be changed, can a 135 bore be fitted without changing too many internals(4 gears sufficient for city use + student budget~!)
->Could you please tell me the cost of a set of clutch plates, timing chain & chain + sprockets.
->What is the stock no. of sprocket teeth on the RX100(Fr. & rear) ?
4 wheels move the body, 2 wheels move the soul.

seems you are brand new to the two stroke world..

firstly there are not timming chains in here.

if you buy it for 5 grand i am sure it would be in a shagged condition expect around atleast 6K to build it. you can call teji in banglore he would be able to help you in all possible ways
