  • Bullet 350 - TCI and CB point installation

    Hi All,

I am proud owner of a bullet 350 standard. My sweetheart is a 13 year old. I am now doing a lot of small changes in the bike. One of change is installing the TCI kit but keeping the old contact breaker system.

According to me I will have to change the crank shaft, magnet coil, clutch cover and install the tci kit(tci kit, coil and small wiring).

Technically I think there will not be any hassle. Since I want to enjoy the thump I can use the cb point system and in the rainy seasons I will use the tci system.

I think tci will give me better fuel consumption and pickup and for thump I will have to change to cb.

Has any one installed it ? Or do you think there will be any issue installing it? Is it worth spending INR6000k.

Please help with the possible information.

    Regards
    Sujeet

You better opt for Cdi, it takes minimal changes- coil & rotor(?), Ht coil. Or may be an electronic ignition kit like Autoescorts. Then again finding an
      Oem Cdi kit is tough!

For Tci conversion on Std the parts list itself is huge- Crank LH shaft, coil assy with rotor, clutch inner & outer cases, Ht coil, possibly later model RR unit etc.

No technical hassles but parts availability & cost. i doubt the whole thing will come for 6k rs. Can't comment on fuel consumption/ pickup/ thump though. Done by many, mostly on tuned machines or to fit ES in the factory way.

Thanks I will surely evaluate cdi option also.

I also heard there is small electronic circuit can be fitted in the place of point and this system is also good. Do you something like this

Hi Sujeet, I know your post is quite old, but just in case some one out there is also in a similar situation. I had got a Eureka Electronic ignition kit installed on my 2009 Castiron STD 350 Bullet in 2010 and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting the hassle free modification. THe best part is that your timing can be still adjusted like the points. If you want to revert back to the points again it can be done without any hassle. They used to make it in Mumbai near Mahakali caves and I got it installed directly from the guys who used to make it. It costed me 1250 Rupees. The gentlemen (Kiran Bhide) making this kits was helpful in answering my queries and was a genuine person.
