Good to hear that. May i know which brand of piston are you using?

In the near future, even i will re-sleeve my existing 4TL00 (which is running 1.5mm O/S) & go for STD size ART or Wiseco.

      Hey,one doubt.Suppose I sleeved the bore,and it did not work out,still I can go for boring it,right?

Unfortunately before i got the ART piston i had already given the guy a Mhale one so as of right now Mhale piston std is installed.

I have stocked ART 1st and 2nd oversizes for the future.

Currently the bike is in run in period so cant say much about the performance but the response has been great than whatever i had heard about the re - sleeving myths.

          Some basic/elementary questions on reboring:-

If the bore is given for the sizing, do we also give the piston to them?
Do they also take the measurement of the piston dia and setup the boring accordingly i.e including clearance?

100 % piston required to get maximum result. even though reboring done with 0.001 mm accuracy dail boregauge.

since piston to cylinder clearance should be maintained at 0.030-0.038 mm depends on make and model. one need to mesaure the piston outer diameter with micrometer(screw guage) to get the reeding at actuall mm followed by 3 digit decimal

eg: for Rx 100 1st over piston diameter should be 50.250mm but always can be +/-0.020mm.

Thanks for the valuable information on the clearance. Will make note of this.

Yes, my sleever did ask me to give him the piston before sleeving.

                  Re: Re Sleeving the cylinder

                  UPDATE -

After using the sleeved bore for 3 years now I can safely say its running BRILLIANT. The job was neatly done by Rajesh Boring Works, and he is brilliant. Although I have procured and kept a brand new spare Piston Cylinder kit for the future, but the current bore is by all means great.

My current setup is fully stock except for the silencer that I have changed to a 4 speed chrome silencer. The bike pushes crazily in the city and I am more than satisfied from the performance. I have ridden it for 100 kms a day many times and there have been no overheating issues. The average / mileage what I get is around 28-30 which is great in all respects that the bike is being ridden fast.

Conrod installed was MACO and Piston installed was ART. I may not win street races, nor do I intend to, but the rush that comes in the post 4.5k RPM is un-explainable. Once it hits the power-band it turns into a retarded beast, you need to have full concentration to tame it. My only gripe is the oil pump which has failed on me 2 times and now due to lack of availability and insane prices I have decided to just use the premix method.

As far as the Sleeve job goes, I am more than satisfied, more than happy.

Thanks for the update , there are hardly any threads on re-sleeves on XBHP or other Indian forums. With most Cylinder kits drying up , sleeving is the only option left, How I wish we could import quality sleeves like LA sleeves into India.

Simple, there would be 2 layers of sleeves(jugs) in the cylinder

                              Re: Re Sleeving the cylinder

I have done resleeving job on 15-May-2015 in my 1994 Rx100 and the bike is still in run-in period.
1st service was done yeterday after crossing 500km and the bike runs really smooth now(just like a new one )
So IMHO if you can't find a good/new cylinder kit(like me) than go for the resleeving( but only after doing some research on your area persons who can perform a good job), luckily I found one in Rudrapur(Uttarakhand)

Here is some info about the cost of resleeving and new piston in Uttarakhand :
                              1) Resleeving = Rs800
                              2) Goettze Piston = Rs690(Coudn't find any other piston here in uttarakhand )

And Some pics also, I think these pics might be useful to someone :

Finally some pre and post 1st-service experiances :
                              1) For 100-150kms the pickup was not so good(feels like someone is pulling it from behind) and gear shifting was also a pain. Later after 200kms the pick-up starts to improve and gear shifting also gets better.
                              2) Fuel Efficiency was 30-32kmpl till 250kms , and after that increasing gradually.(Calculating by reserve-to-reserve method)
                              3) Ride it within 40kmph range till its 1st service( that means till yesterday).
                              4) After 400kms the FE is in 36-38 kmpl range, hoping to get more as 1st service is now done.
                              5) Riding it within 50kmph after the 1st service, and would not cross it untill the ODO hits 1000kms. Then I will update the performance in high revs.
                              6) Till now there is no sign of overheating or any performance lag. Acceleration and gear-shifting is butter-smooth now(as compared to other Rx's only).
