I always want to be a DIY guy and also like to keep the bike in perfect shape but I just don't know how to go about it and also do not want to mess up with my bike. Actually I find it to be great fun to get the hands greased and this would be a good opportunity to be more close to my ride

First purchase some basic mechanic tools. Then start exploring the bike having workshop manual beside. For the start up, you can open the plug and air filter and do the maintenance.

After going through the DIY section, I started doing few things like cleaning the filter element with detergent and water and installing it back, checking the water level on the battery and cleaning the drive chain and lubricating it.
Still a long way to go.

naah it can't be saved that way the old bolt broke the drain plug, atm mseal holds everything in place, you get the idea right?

I am unable to adjust the throttle free play by adjusting the nut, what could be the cause for that?

Is your throttle cable routed properly? It should come out from the side right above the indicator stay and not the meter plate

Tightening and loosening the nut doesn't make any difference in the freeplay. I just checked it, the cable is coming on top of the speedo. So does it have to come from the side? Haven't noticed this before

Yes it has to come from the side, if it is routed near the speedo you won't get the correct freeplay

                            Rusting on the mud guards

Just noticed that the mud guards are rusting from inside and slight rusting on the top, gonna paint it black from inside and on the top will use a emery paper to remove the rust and will paint it silver.
