  • Bullet: RHS to LHS shifter conversion

    Hi Everybody,
I am going to pick a RE350 Standard and want to fix 5 speed GB on it. It will not be used as a daily commuter but will be weekend ride for me and my Uncle and he don't want a RHS shifter one. Few queries related to conversion:-

    1. Can I drill Gearshaft hole in the existing Standard Primary Cover? Or Do i need to replace it with a 5 speed one?

    2. Also If I have to go for a 5 speed primary cover, Do I need a matching LHS crankcase or Can I use the existing standard LHS crankcase because the securing screws are located in different locations.

    3. Approx Price for a new 5 speed GB and the fabrication needed to swap the brake lever.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

In addition to my reply, last pricing of the 5 speed gearbox was round 15K and you can add anoter 5 K for parts and labour of the conversion.

as i talked about the other option that you can avail, you can get AVL engined bullets for around 25-30 in delhi and then spend another 15 at the max to do them they way you want.

      --------------

For a standard untill and unless you are not living in one of the big cities or may be living in remote areas of India then you can find a cheap standard other wise you can expect around atleast 60K for what ever you buy.

Thanks a lot DesiDeep for your help.
I was thinking to for for Mayapuri Route to get a scrap bike and get it fixed myself (I am good at that ) with almost everything new engine wise.

I do live in suburbs but its Bullet Fever everywhere, So no cheap bullets here
I need to do some homework with my uncle now to figure out which option to opt for.
