  • Rx100 Engine Jeks while decelerating

    Dear Xbhp members
I am new to Xbhp and posting this to get valuable help from all
I recently purchased RX100 88'model and done Quick restoration(no engine work)..Work done till ...listed below

1.New Clutch plates,Friction plates, clutch boss & pressure plate-Not changed the driven gear compartment
2.In carb-Needle Jet & Jet needle new & cleaned the carb
    3.Air filter replaced
    4.New Small chain sprocket
    5.New Clutch cable
6.New Ignition coil(before replacing Checked Ignition coil,Stator coil & CDI from coil testing center)

The problem i am facing now is "engine jerks while decelaring from any gear at any speed"( swapped old ignition & New Ignition coil, carb With new needle set and old needle set) ....I know and experienced Rx100 earlier its one of the finest jerk free engine/machine

pls help to come out of this issue,i have already chaged 2 mechanics to solve this problem but no sucess

Check your carb needle position...the clip should be in the center one for the needle...also check the jets you are using are that of RX100...if the position of hte needle is in the center clip then try changing it to one to the bottom...check your bike is not running lean...see if the fuel flow is correct....also the air screw...it should be ideally 1.5 turn outs from fully tight position...u changed ur clutch plates...is the clutch adjusted properly?

Dear Jayakrishnan....thanks for the input...i tried below options
      Needle position is Center
      Jet is Rx100's MJ 115 & PJ 20
Tried adj AFR screw with 1.25,1.5 & 1.75 turns

No sucess.....Any other Inputs pls........for me the clutch looks ok..if i have clutch issues i would experience engine raising noise.....anyways i am going to check the clutch Adj this weekend

What you have been advised is the common solution to this issue. One other option is to try with another carb and see if we still have the problem.

If its clutch slipping u might experience at high speed or at gunning it but if the adjustment of clutch is not proper it will give issues.

To eliminate carb or fuel issue try to reduce the play of throttle at the handle end an also try moving the clip On the carb needle to one lower level

And also it's worth checking ur electricals. If ur Ht coils are kaput also when u r decelerating spark levels can come down

Check for ur fuel flow if u have replaced ur fuel tap as part of ur resto try these

Just a small correction Jaya if i may.. Please dont take it otherwise. The air screw is not to be tightened fully. It has to be turned in clockwise until lightly seated and then turned anticlockwise for 1.5 turns [or whatever is recommended] . If fully tightened, the screw gets damaged. Im sure by fully tight you meant 'fully closed' position..
