  • Seeking help regarding my Rx100

    Hi All,

Apologies if i have posted this question at wrong place as i am new to this forum and its my first post.

I have got Rx100 1996 and facing some issued with that.

It starts only when i take choke. Its carb is not mikuni some indian carb i believe and smaller than mikuni which i have in my rxg, can i use the rxg carb with rx 100?

I also feel missings as the bike has got cough. When i push it , it does not give a cleaner sound but it starts breaking and also no pickup.

I am planning to get fibre reed is that ok?

Also tell me what to do?

My questions seems to be framed very confusing but i can't explain better. I will try next time.

    Regards

    Kamran Khan

Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Your bike needs a proper and thorough cleaning of your carb. RXG and RX100 carbs are different. also check the accelerator cable for smooth functioning and adjust its play, air filter(clean and if needed replace), use a good fuel filter and get the silencer decarbonised & also get it properly tuned by a mechanic who atleast have once worked in a yamaha 2 stroke bike. Once its working fine in the stock condition you can try plugging in the fibre reeds as otherwise you will not be able to identify where and what went wrong

@Kamran - Do a basic service like Jayakrishnan said. Carb might also be the culprit, check. Take this opportunity to clean the tank to remove any residues dirt etc. Petrol tap.

Get the carb cleaned by some good experienced mechanic. Change the airfilter , intake manifold and spark plug if you do not know when they were last replaced. Rest Jayakrishnan has already described .

            Thanks for your reply friends.

I have got the carb cleaned properly. Its bit better now. I am just waiting for reed to be delivered. Few more things to ask.

Mechanic has not opened and checked the clutch plates but said they are ok as of now. Should i still change them as its been a long time they are not changed.

Carb is indian made and not mikuni but with rxg i have mikuni can i use that? if no then should i buy a mikuni one.

Is there any problem with coils?

Also i have read to increase acceleration one can use RXZ chain set is it true?

I am asking these many questions because there is no one to assist here and i have pledged to modify my rx to be the fastest one here.

I might sound bit ignorant but i am constantly working on that and reading all materials available on internet.

Thanks again for your precious help.

Your carb will be MICARB which is the Indian made MIKUNI. If the carb body and internals are in good condition, no need to replace it. The slow circuit should be cleaned well carefully after removing the pilot jet and needle jet .

I think you should get some basic stuff replaced for now-

              1. Original reed valve.

              2. Original clutch plates

              3. Replace all cables.

              4. Replace reed manifold.

              5. Replace air filter.

              6. Change gearbox oil.

              7. Check if oil pump is functioning well. Use good quality 2T oil.

Do not go in for any aftermarket items like reeds etc. Use only the recommended chain set for RX100. RXZ chainset will only improve the top speed but lower the initial acceleration

Thanks a lot , its been a great help from you. So before any performance modification i will focus on basics and get the bike to satisfactory condition.

Only thing i didn't understand is reed manifold?

                Regards

Also known as the intake manifold. [The black rubber thing with four bolts that fits on the reeds and the other end has a round opening for the carb to fit in.]

The rubber starts to disintegrates in some time and then the engine starts sucking air.
