  • Yamaha RX135 Over smoke problem

    Hello Friends,

I am Vijay from Chennai and this is my first post.

I just got a Yamaha RX135 from my friend. The bike was done re boring before my friend gave me. I was told to drive 40kmph till 1500km. After that, I can drive with 40-60kmph till 2000km. Now it is 2100km reached. I use petrol in shell bunk with premix of 3%. I used engine oil (I guess it is engine oil, which we pour in right side of engine) from Castrol.
    I have two questions now.
    1. What kind of oil should I use exactly for engine. I mean the oil which we pour in right side of engine. Can I use Shell Advance 2T motorcycle oil.?
    2. When I drive my bike at 60-70kmph for around 1.5 km continuously with throttle open, white smoke comes too much from silencer. And also the pick up is decreasing and engine stops when I stop in signal.
Is that a problem or do I need to do some repairing. Please advice!

    Thanks,
    Vijay.P

The Right side of the Engine i.e., the Clutch side uses a simple 4 Stroke engine oil and not that of a Two stroke like shell advance 2T Motorcycle oil.

Any 20w 40 oil would suffice which is recommended by Yamaha. This oil is the gear box/ Transmission oil.

The process what you've described is surely asking for trouble. Driving at speeds of leech for 1.5k kms and WOT after that is surely asking for a partial seizure or a busted rings, based on the condition there.

The ideal process is to gradually open the throttle throughout the Run-In which helps the engine to learn all the rev ranges it is supposed to perform rather than giving it a nightmare at the end of the run-in.

I'm assuming that you've been misguided by wrong grades of oil which probably be the reason for excessive smoke. Try following these & post back the observations.

      1. Fill your right side engine with a normal grade 20W40 oil and make sure the levels are within the permissible limits
      2. Inspect if your Oil pump is still injecting oil, If yes, try calibrating the pump & reduce the level of oil, into the petrol tank
      3. If not, disconnect the oil pump and go with the premix in these proportions; for ideal city riding - 20Ml, For long distance riding - 25ml, for WOT - 35-40ml to be on the safer side.

My suspicions are busted rings or oil from both Oil pump & Petrol tank causing this excessive smoke.

Praying that you shouldn't be on a partial seizure due to busted rings.

      Happy Smoking...
