Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      Hi,
You could use Karizma shocks , which I have been using and find them to be quite confortable. In case you have someone in Banglore you could order a pair of original shocks. Since you are staying in Mumbai, why dount you to try getting new shocks in Mumbai Central - the lane opposite Minerva Cinema. I guess, if my memeory is right, just next to Allibhai Premji there is a Sardarji's spare spare part shop who might have original Shocks for Rd's, also I knew a shop in Sion Koliwada (Sardarji again) who had a good stock of RD spares. I left Mumbai a decade back but I think if you try out these two places you could get some positive results.
Regarding you blocks, please remember that Old is gold, what is available in the market are Chinese or Malaysian Blocks, these blocks are no match to the originals. I would suggest u to consult an expert before buying new Blocks (in case you are getting indian bloacks original unsleeveed no problem).

Always remember one thing that RD owners are considered to be a gold mine, there are many ready to fleece you with thoer cheap advice, so think before you spend. (No offence)

      Thanks & Regards

There is no substitute for the original shocks, but i suggest you to go for the RE Classic 500's rear shocks, they look classic, except the nitrox reservoir which was paced at the bottom, the overall look is very similar to RD's original shocks

the best option for shocks is Hero Honda Hunk (just walk into a H H workshop & get a original one )
yes the second option (only if you want stock looks ) go for it , Escorts has done a small batch production , but you will have to find out who sells genuine ones as the market is flooded with fake ones.

Blocks - Take them to a reputed machine shop &

                1) inquire whether they are sleeved or unsleeved???????? if unsleeved go for the next oversize,
                2) Tell them to measure both blocks on what size they are on. (many a times the blocks are of diff size)
                3) go for the next oversize

                Also
                1) never leave your blocks & go unless you trust them ( be it mechanic or machinist)
                2) always have some sought of marking on them
                3) If you travel/work abroad I would suggest you to take the blocks with you & do the work abroad as here in India most of the tuners have nakra & attitude , A few will do the job right & will take a lot of time .
                4) Pistons (Most of them available are fakes )

How good is your crankshaft , what conrods do they have hope not so local stuff .

so once confirmed that the blocks are unsleeved take them with you & do the thing with a good RD tuner abroad also he will do the work with good original parts.
yes its expensive but its worth the money .

also the malysian or china blocks are not straight fit even after purchasing them you have to get the clearances right for the pistons to run smoothly .
