    Yamaha RXG : Restoration Help in Mumbai?

    Hello Bikers,
    I am a biker from Mumbai. I am into old school and two stroke motercycles. Well I am looking forward to restore my dads Yamaha RXG 100cc as I have checked some local mechanics and I am not satisfied with their work.
    If someone can please help me out locating some good place specialised in restorations. Also if I can get an idea/quotation it will be great.
    Bike is in running condition.

      Post up some pics of the current condition of the bike for us to get an idea of work required. Which area are you in?

          Please specify what kind of restoration are you looking at? Complete Engine Overhaul & Complete Body work? including new Paint Job & Stickering?

          Or only Engine Overhaul?
          or Only Body Make up?

          Consider a good amount of 25k or 30k for the compelete Engine & Body work
          6 - 9 k for complete Engine overhaul
          12 - 15 for complete Body.
          Many good mechanics are there in Mumbai let us know which Area you are in.

            It's Yamaha RXG.. recently put a new piston. and used RX125 decals because I couldn't find RXG ones. well I need to restore it to its Stock looks. and I am looking forward to spend 10K. Chassis is in good condition. Here are some pictures of it's current condition. Thanks.

              Considering your engine is in perfect condition, you might still need to stretch your budget if you want a stock new look.
              Heres some approx. rates to get an idea.

              complete paint job [chassis and body] - 5k
              Chrome plating - 2k
              new headlight, nut bolt and rubber kit, front fender, headlight stays, cables, wiring, spokes etc. - 3.5-4k
              labour - 2-3k

              This is the minimum work required on the bike now based on looking at the pics. Expenses may go higher depending on the parts replaced.

                  I am looking for manufacturer/Brand name of stock Front FORK ASSY (Yamaha RXG RX Family). I checked into a local shop they don't have stock/Original Front FORK ASSY.
                  Where I can find it ? Is it made by Escorts ?

                    yes!.. Front fork are made by escorts..

                    between why do you need to replace complete fork assly.. wrt to pictures you have posted..i dont see any reason for front fork assly change required. if your fork tube are bend and not perfoming action then you can get it (tube bend removal)rectified or else only main tubes can be replaced.

                        Hey guys,

                        After years of yearning and months of searching, I finally picked up a stock RX 100. This is the first bike I have bought from my own money. I paid close to 20K for it. Its a 4 speed 1986 model Japanese engine and carb. Its not fancily done up or anything but the engine is quite well maintained and the chrome is fine (has anti-rust coat for now - protection from mumbai weather). But I need an experienced and reliable yamaha mechanic in Andheri West. Since this bike means a lot to me, money is not much of an object (unless the price is downright unafforadable). Here's an indicative list of what I need done:


                        - electrical wiring and battery installation (if anyone has tips on how to get better lighting out of the 6V setup-I'd be grateful for the same)
                        - Installation of side lock and silencer lock (I have both the parts)
                        - Minor welding on centre stand
                        - Missing nut and bolt on footrest bracket (likely a number 13)

                        So please SoS folks, help me make this baby road-legal.

                            Hey everyone at xbhp and two stroke lovers finally it happened. After a very long time finally I could spend enough time and money to work on my motorcycle. The restoration is almost complete and will be updating the details very soon. Once again thanks to everyone who helped me, and also the people who shared information on other threads in this two stroke section.

                              Good to know that you have managed to bring back a good ol two stroker to former glory. You are in the right city and the right place. Mumbai has a lot of 2 stroke junkies. Keep us posted with details.
