  • RX135 - Help with identifying issues

    Hi Gang,

    My cousin went abroad and gave me his RX135 to fix it, he bought it 2 weeks back from a second bike reseller for 8000 INR. I own an RX which I'm planning to take home to my town to fix it because I'm kind of a scared to give it here for my riding purpose I booked an R15 v2 . But this one I have to do it in Chennai and the mechanics are really crooks so might say things which I'm not sure. So I have taken a few pictures of my bike so you can maybe guess possible issues. He cares about the engine more than looks. I'm not good at the internal working of the bike. So maybe someone and help me.

    Advice is a form of nostalgia.
    Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      i think everything is required ..strip it completely and paint it from scratch and chrome all the required parts ..first of all needs lots of washing with loads of detergent

        Where are you from?? If you got a Rx with proper papers for 8000 its good. The bike looks like a dirty hog. Give it a good water wash with pressure cleaner or take it to the service station.
        The bike has rusts more than chrome and paint. So take it to a good mechanic and check. Body and frame require painting and chrome parts plating. You can either plate the chrome or buy new one both will cost around the same. Especially if you have dents on silencer.
        If the engine is ok better no to touch it. Or you can open the head and decarbonize Change the oil. Clean the carbs and tune it properly. Check the health of the fuel pump. Cosmetically it should take around 20,000 to 25,000 INR to bring it to top notch condition.

          +1 to what RXdude mentioned...first step first....do make it up and running as in the way it should by doing an oil change, check the cylinder and engine conditions for any unwanted rattles or sound...and if its running fine with a carb cleaning and tuning and air filter change(seeing the bike i feel like the filter is gone) once that is done find a reliable mech who can work on RX and is near to your home....strip the bike at your home keep the engine, carb, CDI at home and send the parts for painting...for the chrome parts, make sure if the silencer and the bend pipes are dentless get it rechromed...and all the other chrome parts its better to buy it new as the price of rechroming is same as the new one...get new rims and spokes, change all the wheel bearings, change teh wheel axles...new wiring kit, tyres and assemble it back with a new seat assembly...Regarding the painting....if the tank interior is rusted then there is no point in painting the tank and the side panels...keep the side panels cleaned and backed up for a later day and get a new tank and side panel set from the dealership...get a new lock assembly as well...go thru the thread which rxdude has done as the factory roll out...you will get the idea about the parts required and all the best...keep on updating this thread with the pictures of dismantling and assembling so that we all can help you

            Hello Shyam,

            The bike looks very rusty first check the chassis whether they are fine and see how much the chassis has corroded all the other chromed and painted parts has to be either replaced or can be painted based on the degree of rust as per my suggestion its better to replace them and I see the carb is in very bad state please clean it first and see everything is in place ... from the picture I see the bore is E2 series that would have come with the bike see whether any rattling noise is there and also check what size piston it is running .... Apart from the engine also check how the clutch, bearing and sprockets are ......

                Thank you folks. I'll inform him and see if he ready to spend around 25K. Today I just checked the book found out it's RXG not RX135 if that makes any difference. The Bike is not in a drivable condition now since there are 2 tubes disconnected from the carb. So the pertol is leaking through it. Not sure how to connect it back. My friend told me one will be disconnected by default and other one should be connected to something.

                @Sriram - Thank you.

                  Shyam, there is no difference between RXG and RX 135 except the clutch and the sprockets RX 135 is nothing but the refined RXG....
                  No problem you have Sriram with you now, take his advice he will guide you in the right way .....
