If the holder which holds the bulb is loose or ill fitting, it can lead to overheating of the metal part or the base of the bulb. Try changing the holder and see if the problem persists.

The holder will be the culprit. Is that RX 100 a 6V to 12V converted one?

Re: over heating problem of yamaha rx100 headlamp

              This can happen only with...
              1. Low quality of holder
              2. Improper wiring with a extra strong/no fuse with a minute short circuit
              3. Poor wiring/wire quality that attributes to melting the plastic holder

              How to solve?
              1. Check electrical completely; if I were him, I would spend a few hundred bucks to replace the wiring kit
              2. Get OE bulb holder or HH's holder which might require a minor tweak in the doom
