Queries regarding rebuild of RX 135
I was reading the RXG service manual and noticed the "Special Service Tools" section. As I'm planning to do a full rebuild of my RX135 DIY way, I'll need those special tools. Where do I find them? Are they absolutely necessary? I can see some of the tools like sear driver can be improvised but not all. Is there any substitute tool for them or the OEM tools are important for a good overhaul?
I am back!

Queries regarding diesel flushing RX135
I have been reading about diesel flushing and the info I get seems to be contradicting. Some say it is good for the engine and some say it'll hurt the engine. I'm asking because I am offered a RX135 at 7000 rupees (Can haggle it even lower) with registration expiring on 2015. The bike seems to be abused, the engine oil has turned white, the clutch plates are stuck or at worse broken, sprockets are worn out. Gears feel sticky but wobbling in gearbox. Front forks need reconditioning and the carburetor needs some cleaning apart from the other necessary maintenance. I'm thinking about rebuilding it but before doing so I am planning to give her a general service myself and ride her for a month or so to know the condition of the bike better to facilitate in rebuilding.
So, should I flush the engine with diesel or not? Some say it's better to use kerosene as it has lubricating quality.I am back!

re: Queries regarding rebuild of RX 135
go to your local tool shop (the ones selling industrial tools like drill machines grinders etc, not your local hardware store) and ask for tools like flywheel holder, crank splitter, magneto puller, clutch basket holder etc for Yamaha Rx series, I would strongly suggest that you invest in a decent socket set ,ring spanner set and also in a impact wrench/driver, they will make your life a lot easier in the long run , if you are treading the diy route, and yes socket sets are costly when bought as a whole set , so if you are desperate you can buy the minimum needed sizes-and start working, good brands for the sockets, spanners , impact drivers should be tapadia or east manKawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

re: Queries regarding rebuild of RX 135
I already got a set of general tools and now looking to buy those Special Service Tools. Taparia makes nice tools, I got few tools made by them and so far these are great. BTW what do you prefer more, chrome plated or phosphate coated ones? I asked the tool shops here but they don't have those tools for Yamaha RX series.I am back!

Re: Queries regarding rebuild of RX 135
try asking your local 2wheeler mech as to where he bought his set, as for preference b/w chrome and phosphate coated ones, my dear friend i buy tools for their utility value not their finish , it doesnt matter what the finish is it should serve its purposeOriginally posted by Cleaner View PostI already got a set of general tools and now looking to buy those Special Service Tools. Re: Queries regarding rebuild of RX 135
The local mechanics here don't even have proper wrench sets, they all improvise things which ruin engine for good. Also, they won't tell me as it's their trade secret. Trust me, I tried asking before. I asked about tool finishes because the tools supplier here is asking twice the price of phosphate coated for the chrome plated tools.Last edited by Cleaner; 05-06-2013, 07:50 PM.I am back!
