    Hi All

Proud owner of a 1999 shogun and a 790 duke. Both beasts in their own right. My shogun has been in storage for the past 15 years. Decided to dust the bike off and restore. First needed to find a reliable mechanic. That’s easier said than done. Gave it back to my old neighbourhood mechanic who ended up charging me an exorbitant amount. That’s a separate story.

first thing’s first a full clean up revealed the following issues
    1. jets needed to be replaced
    2. intake manifold was cracked and hard to find a replacement
    3. running Sam 0.5 somehow didn’t feel this was the best I could do so ended up importing Tkrj
pistons from the Tkrj Japan website.
    4. discs brakes are warped so need to change the rotor

    following mods

    4. carbon fibre reed valve petals
    5. In process of installing the tkrj piston also found a cylinder that I rebored to 0.5. Also found a 0.25 goetze piston but the cylinder I bought was so bad that I had to go to 0.5.
    6. pwk 28 Keihin carb
    7. Uni air filter
    8. Fiero box type swingarm
    9. wunderlich German speedo meter
    10. new muffler for the chamber which makes it look like the imported NSRs and RGVs
    11. Paioli continental gt rear shocks

there is much work to be done still, found another mechanic that seems reasonable. Time will tell if he’s any good. Will keep you posted
