You are one braveheart, fallout between you and your mechanic was the best thing happened to you(i think) because that forced you to take the restoration by yourself and all of these 2st. demands bucket full of love from there owners,a mechanic can never feel the way a 2stroker lover or owner feels for his bike. Waiting for some snaps of your or i should everyones loving RD.

Since I had never worked on a full project alone I needed help. I was already gathering spares from dealers I found on classifieds and social media sites, but the quality of those spares was worse than junk. So I reached out to my old friend Shriram for some help. He did the biggest favor he could ever do for anyone by pointing me to Dr. Nitesh patidar(yamdoot). Initially the "doc" and me exchanged some messages . When doc had the confidence that I would be able to pull off the build, he started coaching me actively on the rd. What to expect from the build, how to fix things, how and what spares to choose etc..., it was the doc's confidence in me that gave me the courage to go forward with the build.

Its unfortunate that the "before restoration" pics were lost when I misplaced the pendrive they were contained in. But you can judge the condition of the bike from these pics fairly well. It was completely botched up.

Yes the condition of the bike is pathetic, but if you have good doctor by your side disease can be cured,so how did you procure spares because oem spares for these bikes are almost nonexistent today, and how much did you invested in bringing her back to good form.

never give up , doesnt matter which 2 stroke it is , have learnt a lot in all these years,

            1) The internet is the big help here, specially the members here & other sites too.
            2) never buy desi/locally made stuff online, they will always ship to you the surplus parts.
            3) for parts they are some alternatives ( here's one example below)
Rims ( RD came in 18 in wheels)
1st choice ( adeep rims which came on pulsar 150/180 )
            2nd choice ( unicorn rims)
            3rd choice ( H Honda CBZ )
you are not alone here , everyone does mistakes & we learn from them , feel free to ask here .

            ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Also plz dont use that airfilter as its cap end it needs to be open on all side as RD has reed valves, I meant that filter shouldnt be used on reed valved bike.

They are a third party rim manufacturers. As of now, we still get oe bajaj and hero honda rims. For rd the best bet is to use a p150 rear rim for front and use a hero honda cbz rear rim for the rear.

I have seen the rims. They look good. Although i can not comment on how they would be on long run as I never used them.

All The best for the rebuild Bibhu. RD is my dream Bike. When I see an RD I try to ride my RX135 along with it to get a glimpse one more time. Buying an RD didnt workout till now for me.

How can one get these rims, i mean are they easily available or they hard to find, is there any official website of this company, hero honda rims were quite good, but now it's only Hero so one can only hope the quality is still the same as it was with honda.

Just check the Bajaj dealership for parts they might have adeep ,just ask for the rim & check for some adeep engravings on the rim . H H onda parts are still good , other option is Honda Unicorn (they look exactly the same as RD's ) but when I wanted to purchase they told me they didnt have the rims but they complete Unicorn wheels in stock , so plz check.

Nice ,Nostalgic ,looks hot .I think you never completed your full detailed rebuild story .The bike stirs something inside anyone who grew up during those times. My first bike RX 135 -5 speed was what i bought since i could not do justice to properly maintain an RD 350 but the love for the RD never goes away so the first twin cylinder from Yamaha after the RD 350 ,the R3 was what i bought in 2015 but the desire to own an RD still remains but since i know that i cannot maintain it i have avoided it .Anyway keep posting regular photos so we can also enjoy it , all the best.
