  • My RX 135 Restoration

Friends, Got a Rx135 4 speed yesterday. Need to get it restored to showroom condition A-Z offcourse at reasonable expense.

I am based out of Bangalore. Please suggest an expert mechanic and reliable place to procure required parts both new and old.

    Here is the pic.

It's a Jan 2000 model Rx135 4 speed Black in color... Done 41K genuine as the Front tyre is still 99 made & Rear tyre replaced with 40% thread left. Engine condition is average but clutch 8 not in good shape... So the pickup is low.

Anyways... Today I ripped apart the complete engine and found a nasty seizure on the piston, As though some metal part from the crank case or bearing came in contact & Caused this. However no metal peice was found as it must have got off from the exhaust...

Got the Cylinder re bored to 0.75 and Reset the crankshaft and clutch bell... Rest all the engine & roller bearings, Clutch plates, metal plates, Cables, etc are Yamaha genuine spares.

Will be cleaning up the the crank case and engine parts with diesel and start assembling tomorrow morning...

Will post the updates post completion.

Bike's engine got fully rebuilt and runs like a dream... Butter smooth with sweer and clear exhaust note... loving it...Certainly took me back to 2000 when this rolled out of tge showroom.

Filled in Shell VSX 2T and calibrated the oil pump and currently running in at speeds of 40-45 kmph.

What should be the run in period / kilometres after which I can open up the throttle?

Man you are lucky you got shell vsx-2t oil, what's the cost of this oil and is it easily available in your city, as iam also searching for this oil in my city but no one is having this oil.

As you have gone for rebore keep mixture little rich, first 1000kms are very crucial for any newly rebored engine, keep the engine within the speed limits of 40 to 45km/h , don't ride the bike in heavy traffic, don't go for long rides, keep varying the engine speed, don't just keep riding continuously in one speed, after every hour of running, let the engine cool down for 10 to 15 minutes, between 1000 to 1500km/h speed up the bike for 60km/h occasionally.

Bro. In bangalore shell advance vsx is easily available in each and every small store but prefer to pick up from Shell bunk. It's 269 per Litre.

Great suggestion. Yes it's running on slightly rich mixture 2% 2T premix in the tank and additionally from auto lube... A or screw is just about 1 turn out... To ensure rich mix.

Yes been riding in speeds of 40- 45 kmph as of now completed 200 KM... Bike already feels more smoother...

Not done any rides more than an hour...Yes I am varying speeds & Letting the bike cool off. Not gone beyond 50 kmph yet... But it's too tempting... Controlling myself 😊

One more question for this shell vsx-2, how do you find the performance of the oil, how much smoke is it producing, is plug and exhaust more clean compared to yamaha's own 2t, and lastly i need this oil but not getting here in delhi so can you send this oil to me in delhi via courier.

                          Vinay,
Users are not authorised to delete others' posts, even in their own started thread.
And may I say, Akkiben is right and let's be appreciative that he has politely conveyed his thought. Visibility to any one person's posts is reduced if many share their experiences at one place only. Generally on forums, the term used for this, is called thread hijacking.

Such details confuse the forum reader too, because he/ she will mix details from user A's rebuild into user B's rebuild, just because both are in succession in the same thread. Confusion will happen.

I suggest that you either create a new topic, or you can message me and allow me to split this topic, so you'll have your own topic. Let me know what would be ok by you..

Sure Samarth. I understand and appreciate the way you have conveyed the message in a respectable manner.

                            Yes kindly split the thread.
