  • Converting 350 Royal Enfield(UCE) to 500cc

    Hello everyone,

As the topic summarizes, I am kind of(still at very infant stage) thinking to convert my 350 cc RE Classic to 500 carburetted one.
So what all parts need to be replaced/swapped/changed etc. Basically what all to be done?

Few things which I know. They both have the same stroke length and same RPM figures so ignition timing should remain same. 500 has 7 plate clutch and 350 has 6, so this is also not a big issue. Then the push-rod, rocker arms remain the same. And other electricals are same AFAIK. Front sprocket needs to be changed.

    Experts, some valuable inputs please.

PS: Please don't suggest to sell off 350 and buy 500. I already know that

best to sell the 350 and get a 500 , in addition to the items mentioned by you will have to change the head assembly ,valves, camshafts, , crank shaft (the 500 uses a heavier one), ,inlet manifold , carburettor, also there is no gaurentee that ,the 350 crankcase will accept the 500 cylinder owing to the larger bore

Let me be straightforward with this reply bro
It can be done but you gonna need an experienced mechanic and lathe workshop to do this job. Not to mention the finance.
Block piston kit of the 500, valves, crank, con rod, carb. I haven't seen a 500 engine or else you may have to bore the crankcase and realign the studs so that the 500 block fits in it.

True but Boring the engine case might not be great idea as it would become too weak I guess but then it is almost impossible to get engine cover as it has engine number, so I am not sure if we can get it separately. Connecting rod is same I belief, so it might not need to be changed. Head needs to be changed so it anyways would include valves. Clutch is also 7 plate in 500, so even that needs to be changed.

              Hi Gyan,

Even though it has same stroke length, piston gudgeon pin size are different so connecting rod needs to be replaced.

Kindly find the parts comparison between 350 VS 500 in the parts manual.
