  • Restored : My Bajaj Super 82

    THE BUYING PROCESS:
    ACCESSORISING:

    Now the khujli begins:

I talked to the mechanic and asked him to scan and send me the color chart, which was done with some bhaag daud (bhaiya batti nahi aa rahi, internet hang ho raha hai etc etc). Stripping of the scooter had started, I asked my wife to choose the color, phir spark ignite hua, let me go over the top.
I asked my man if he can get the handle, front mudguard, dickey, engine cover & the wheels in chrome, he said he will check, and for the body I will tell him the color.

    Kahani main twist:

In the interim years I did not realize that, this mechanic had got into bad habits/company, he would close shop for days on end even months and go to his gaon, with excuses bhaiya kya batain yeh ho gaya woh ho gaya long yarns and on the sly keep taking money from my FIL (all I knew was he used to eat gutka and cigarettes), previously he was slow and lazy, but would never cut corners for my jobs.
Anyway, in the coming years I could not go for my vacation, changed jobs, transfer papers and related problems, and this chap was running helter skelter, with my scooter and many others just strewn around his makeshift workshop.

    Finally:

Ultimately, on one of my vacations I took whatever was remaining of my scooter from him, (Original handle, 2 wheels the engine bonnet missing)and gave it to my neighbors FNG, a decent person, who got the scooter all done up within a short notice of 15 days, all is well. Total kharcha about 9k.

Enjoy the passion, of my nostalgic ride

    Regards

    Vinod

    Fascinating scooter story approved.

10-12 waiting period for a Bajaj scooter! Wow! Loved the narration, sir!

p.s.: And for a kanpuria, chewing gutkha is not a 'bad habit'. It is a custom for real kanpurias I heard

      Thanks sunil for the approval.

the long waiting period made the Bajaj scooter so desirable that, the first mod was the stand lock, with a big Godrej padlock.

Hahaha, pan masala & gutkha, kanpuria's (heard after a very long time), are the pioneers.

      all the best
