  • Need Help for Suzuki Samurai '98 modification

    Dear Friends,

I have a 98 Model of Suzuki Samurai which was presented by my Late Father, Obviously i have lots of sentiments attached to this motor bike which such a "No Problem" bike. This bike is in fully working condition but i want to pep it up to make something like a decent Cafe Racer while retaining the Classiness of the vehicle. Following are my requirements, essentially...
    1. It must essentially show pre 1990 style, retaining original parts as much as possible
    2. Bike should not have unnecessary mods (Ideas is not to look like Tapori bike ).
    3. Bike should be able to make use of any parts from other motor cycle manufactures to enhance the exisiting beauty of the bike
    4. Bike needs a complete new painting job and stickerings
    5. Internal system of the bike also needs revamp.

I need your Suggestions/Guidance, So that I can full fill my dream. I am looking up to you for all the recommendations and i will promise that i will record the entire process and post it here ...

Please suggest any Modders in Bangalore/Mangalore. If you could estimate the cost of the project that will be a great help.

    Thanks in advance

        Hi Prashanth,

I have a 1999 Suzuki Samurai and you can find my thread for it as well. Samurai is a trouble free and easy to maintain bike. Here are a few suggestions for you

        1) Keep the bike stock in both cosmetics and engine department if you want a thoroughly reliable and trouble free bike
        2) Instead of creating a Frankenstein Monster with bits and pieces from various other bikes, try and collect all available parts of Samurai preferable OEM. bangalore is a very good place and you should be able to get all the spares in you have patience.
        3) You can get a sticker set that can be used after painting. I remember 3M ws the OEM supplier of stickers. Considering the sentimental value the bike has in your heart, dont cut any costs, go for the best painter in your area and set your expectations before you agree to a price. Use a PU or 2K paint Asian Nexa is one brand that is quite popular, Dupont and ICI are also around. A good paint job that includes the entire frame, engine, chain cover, tank, side panels, chroming of the silensor etc may set you back by 5 k minimum
        4) For the engine work, go for a new block piston, Crank , Reed valve, fiber clutch plates, 2T oil pump, chain sprocket, engine bearings ( all of these ( other than fiber clutch) are available from Service center if you pay an advance and place an order). all of these parts would cost you around 8 k maximum
        5) collect all parts before you start the restoration and finalize the painter and mechanic well in advance. This saves a lot of last minute running around and un-necessary heartburn
