  • Yamaha RX 135 Restoration Queries

HI everyone....i'm restoring a yamaha RX 135.....but i'm adding some slight changes to it...so i need suggestions:
    1. I'm planning to turbocharge the engine for low emissions and additional power.....is it practically possible to fit a turbochrger in an engine that small??will it work??
    2. Is it a good idea to replace the carburettor with an FI?
    3. Where in India do i get one sided swingarms??

First of all these are not slight changes, it cannot get any additional benefit from turbo charging, there are lot more you can do before you can go Turbo

      2. Is it a good idea to replace the carburettor with an FI?

Its not that simple, you have to convert the wiring to start with and I am not sure there are any single cylinder 2stroke bike with FI, so procuring an ECU is not going to be easy and needs a lot of support form the mechs(look in the KTM stable, you might find something there)

      3. Where in India do i get one sided swingarms??

no bike in inda came with a single sided swingarm, its too much of hassle to convert a 135 to a single sided swingarm. My humble advise, don't

My answers in bold and italics.

        Hello David,

You sure have a dream list there, As far as the Fuel injection is concerned, bajaj happened to have a GDI two stroke that used Orbital Corporation developed fuel injection. Try and source one if you can.

Way back in 2009 Envirofit tried to retrofit the smoke spewing autorickshaws with a EFI kit that was supposed to have been a success. This is a major hit in the far East. unfortunately they do not sell the kit in India.
