  • Is it Feasible to Downjet the Pacco carb on my Yezdi Cl2?

    Good day,
This is my first post here, so kindly forgive if I might have skipped some etiquette.
I am just curious if i could down jet The Pacco carb(I forget the complete name ,i believe it went something like PM....) on my Yezdi CL2.
The reason i ask this is because,as far as I can tell, the crank shaft lubrication is performed by lube mixed with with the fuel? And downjetting would mean less fuel, and hence less lube in the crank case. Is it possible that the engine might run hot and lead to bearing wear or some other problem. The default main jet is a 90, and I have a 65 and an 85 with me. Any help would be much appreciated.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Why do you need to downjet? What you said is correct, the amount of fuel drawn will be less> less oil and this will definitely lead to overheating of the engine. If the piston overheats it expands rapidly and the cylinder can't cope up with rapid piston expansion and that can seize the engine. Experts can comment more on this!

Slight downjetting is not a big issue.Only point is you have to adjust air screw also for not running the bike lean. Crank shaft lubrication is not done from Carb. But ofcourse piston and block is lubricated by the Petrol oil mix from carb. Downjetting might give you a slight increase in Mileage , but not good for long run.

Its true that down jetting would cause engine to heat up but it would not happen due to lesser 2T however since a rich mixture(read more petrol and not 2T) would ensure a much colder engine than what a lean mixture would cause, secondly adding more 2T will also lean out the mixture. If its not millage that's haunting you , you should not be experimenting much with the jets. FYI paccos are already very lean since they were aimed to improve mileage.

            Thank you all,
I certainly don't want the piston seizing, especially since 2 strokers tend to run hotter than their 4 stroke counterparts. I will stick to the 90 on my Yezdi, although, i have used the 65 for my Electra for a month now, but now I feel its better to get back to the standard jet,or an 85.
Thanks once again for your advice, much obliged.
