  • HI SPEED SHOGUN PROBLEMS !

<s></s> HI DUDES I GOT A SHOGUN AND HAV MODIFIED SOME OF ITS ENGINE PARTS,SO THE BIKE NOW CHURNS UP TO A MAX SPEED OF 140 KM/H.BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT I M NOT ABLE TU GET A GOOD MILAGE FIGURE FROM MY BIKE AND IT TENDS TO WOBBLE AT THE BACK WHEEL WHEN REACHES AT MAX SPEED OF 110 KM/H. CAN PLZZZ ANY ONE HELP ME IN HAU TO STOP THIS WOBBLING AND SAVE MY SELF FROM ANY BIG ACCEDENT AS WE HAV RACES REGULARLLY IN CHENNAI AND I M NOT ABLE TO KEEP MY BIKE STABLE AT HIGH SPEEDS AS COMPARED TU MY FRIENDS PULSARS/KARIZMAZ/GRAPTORS/RX100/SHOGUNS/RD350.

dude the Shogun wasn't designed to do 140's, in order to stop the wobble try fixing a heavier swing arm and a wide tyre. dude be really careful. at 140s one slight mistake and you know what. I broke my leg having fallen at just 40 kmph. I had a cast for over 2 months.

Quick fix, buy one of them steering dampers. And set ur suspensions at the hardest possible setting. But remember it is more of a band-aid. You need to get urself to someone who understands chassis dynamics to determine what is out of whack. Here is a small list for you to check to remove obvious stuff.
            1) Tyre pressures - more important that u think.
            2) Bearings - Steering column, Wheels (front and rear)
            3) Bushes - Swingarm, rear suspension joints.

            P.S : Forgot this one
            4) Wheel trueness

well friend 140kmph i think is too much for an engine under 150 segment bcoz these bikes r not made 4 such speed, they will get unstable, still u can use a bit wide tyre, for getting max avrg frm ur bike
                1. take care of throttle, use it smoothly
                2. switch of engine while red lights
                3. avoid using brakes frequently, manage ur speed with throttle only.
thts it!i m sure its goin to make diff.

dude, try a heavier and extended swingarm; or you check the chassis for any loose bolts/misalignments..
also check if there are any rear suspension faults like bend swingarm; i had a problem like that with ma RX

the best way to bring the shogun into the stable mode is by changing the swing arm to that of the victor 110...i have done that to my fiero classic and i have seen shoguns of zen racing team wid those...also use a 100/90 ruber at the rear.these wil make ur bike a lot more stable..
Where there is a will there is a way! Where there is a way there is a Fiero! Where there is a Fiero there is a Fieroid!

140 on a modded Shogun is quite possible - I once clocked a race prepped RX at 185 kms on my VTR 1000 SP1 (the rx was fully faired and was done to full race specs) so i dont see any probs with a shogun doing 140...

however speed aside the problem with such high speeds on low capacity strokers is that the frame suspension brakes etc are not designed for that !!! hence the wobble etc - even my stock shogun gives me hairy tank slapper wheelies if im not careful at times! so you see....

some suggestions.... longer swing arms.... clip on bars to get more weight on the front wheel, bigger tyres obviously (for the shogun the zappers are my tyres of choice) - steering dampner not recommended for a lightweight bike would make riding in traffic a nightmare !!! thourough check up of the existing frame and strengthening key weld joints..with additional bracing - talking of bracing you might wanna consider front fork stabilisers as well to increase rigidity and prevent flexing ! (can be made easily at you friendly neighbourhood tinker shop)...

have fun and ride safe - any person can twist the throttle to be fast !!! remember control is more important than outright speed best wishes!
I'm not Riding FAST, I'm just Flying LOW....
