Goldwing Type Seat for Royal Enfield

Oh wow, thats an awesome lot of seats you got there. The Royal Enfield Zone website link that you posted is excellent. I'm sure a lot of bulleteers would find it interesting. I think you should keep it simple and should not go overboard like the one on the Goldwing, would spoil the look of the bike. I liked the very first pic of the seat, it looked very comfortable, good looks and I believe would not be very difficult to install.sigpic

Initially I started off just thinking of a backrest just for the rider. A Single seat with a backrest. The backset would provide space for storage. No Hard cases etc. just a emply space with some metal grill so that luggage can be mounted.Originally posted by vijaycool View PostBig seats with the arm rest would be an over kill for RE. We are not using bikeseveryday for
touring. I prefer this provided if it has foldable back support. So it wont be sticking out

Else an option to remove back rest. I feel both seats looks similar without back rest. Hope you got my point.
When you say foldable. I have a idea. Imagine the seats in cars. With just one pust it goes all the way back. Using the same concept this is what is on my mind.
Rider will have a seat and backreset. Assume we have another person who will be sitting in the back. Just press the button and the backrest will collapse to make way as a seat for the pillion.

Listen man. You live in Bangalore I guess. Ordering from so far wouldn't be too practical IMHO. Find someone in Bangalore
who can sit with you and actually make the seat. For starters, you should look at a proper bullet mechanic. When you need
some custom made stuff, it is always better to get it done with the motorcycle around. If you are interested, I could
suggest someone who could do it for you in Bangalore.
Cheers,
Jay
I'm not keen on ordering from Delhi but happened to find out they are willing to do these jobs.
If you could let me know the contact in Bangalore that would be great.
Let see if how things turn out.Originally posted by silver_falcon_46 View PostOh wow, thats an awesome lot of seats you got there. The Royal Enfield Zone website link that you posted is excellent. Ideally with the bike size of RE, I suggest you look up the Mustang seats website as those designs are more practical and apt for the RE. Besides, they also have optional backrests for both rider as well as passenger. The Goldwing kind of seat will look like the circus bear riding a bicycle with small wheels.

Also take some ideas for your passenger back rest from the below website:

I have been working on the seat project and it is turning out quite nicely. Will post them in the next few days.
Also wanted to know if Shad Panniers are available in India or any other make with similar design.
Shad Panniers are used in BMW Bikes.attached some pic for refLast edited by ravisanjeevk; 09-04-2009, 11:44 PM.

Hello All,
I was looking out for Shad Panniers for my Project and is very very costly.
I found some storage stuff on the Studds Website. They somewhat fit what I'm looking but let me know what you think.

Awesome work that you are doing..... I live in Bangalore and own a Thunderbird TS. I have been planning to get a backrest installed for the rider as my back does get sore after 100-150km of riding when on a tour.Originally posted by mangaloreaviators View PostHello All,

This would add soo much character to the bike! Wonder why the RE guys are soo oblivous of things which they can do but fail to even notice! All the RE wants is numbers and they are producing not bulls but normal bikes
