On saturday, i decided to go for a sprocket change for my shaolin.
    14T - RTR 180.
39T - Suzuki Fiero and chain i got from the fiero chain kit.

After opening the engine side cover, what i find is very disturbing.
Near the front sprocket, the chain has slighty grinded the chamber even the mechanic is not sure why this has happened.

am guessing, may be the swingarm is slightly bent.

    any info on this.

No help ..... i can understand.

Anyways bike running fine now on a clear highway its just kissing the 100kmph. Engine is smooth better than my samurai actually, every often you will get to hear the crank sound apart from that nothing else.

People do give a 2nd look looking at the stickers and awasome firing the bike has, its an worthwile experience i should say.

        hi all,

i have a 96 shogun which is pretty much stock and is in ok condition.

however dopes have some small issues with it but are real annoying
so i have decided to re do the bike including painting and all adding
front disc ,box shape swing arm and all

i am assuming it wud cost me around 10k to do all this
however my better half is dead against it and suggests me to buy a new one instead, however i love this bike and want to keep it as my daily commuter.

my question is is it worth doing all this will the bike be reliable enough for me to trust it while using it in the city.

        pls do suggest

@thread starter :hope you dont mind me posting it on your thread didnt wnated to create a new thread for only this.

Ur end its your better half here its my mum n elder brother, all of us go through it in different ways i guess. I can so relate man.

Well as far as your engine is fine doing up the Shigun cosmetically wont be an issue. Coz body spares you can get. Engine well ull have to look high and low. But you can get it

So go for it man re-build the pioneer fire starter

yup but my question is....will it be reliable enough after the rebulid
note:the engine is sealed never opened till now only issues with wiring and body parts

if the compression is good.. you dont need to touch the engine! a new wiring loom should not be difficult to source.. new body parts can be used from the samurai with new paint and Shogun stickering. check out 'Big Bore's' newly painted Shogun.

You are one lucky guy in 110 crores population to have a Shogun with a virgin engine and you are wondering what to do?

Dude, I would suggest to keep the Shogun as a weekend bike. You cannot afford to stress it too much. Spares are becoming scarce day by day. For daily commute just go for any regular 4-stroke ones that you feel comfortable with.

Whatever work is needed on the Shogun, plan it in phases and accomplish. That way you do not have to spend too much in one shot. Just take your time with it. But keep it good.

                      • ok so finally the bike went to get fixed 4 days ago
the main things that the mech listed out where
-engine (there were some noises from it)
                        -the tires(were pretty worn out)

but i wanted extra stuff too
the switches the front mudguard clamp
                        the rattling from the visor

so the bike was there for 3 days and now is a dream to ride.
got rx 135's lhs switch, ceat secura sport tires (button) front and back
                        imported quick throttle
                        got the silencer fixed
got the rear break liver and the kick starter changed
wheel bearing and fork springs and oil changed
it seems that it had a sam piston on it so changed it with art one
also got it re bored ,it turned out that the oil tank's pipe was not connected to the carb and the carb was of a insuzuki so got it changed and also got tweaking done on it dont remember the exact work right now.
the handle grip was changed as well(the new ones are pretty neat)

                        ill post the pics 2moro

                        thanks for the support

the reaming issues are speedo (rpm needle has come off)
the visor still vibrates but a little less now
i still need to get the bike painted and i need a chamber for it.

                            • Shaolin Stickers are available

                              Guys,

Shaolin Stickers are available in Bangalore JC road. Of course they are 2nd quality make but something is better than nothing. And it looked really genuine (the fonts and the color gradiation). The only catch here is, it is for the red-and-yellow combination Shaolin . The dealer had two sets available when I visited him last week.

Shogun Stickers are also available (for the black bike). This is in Shivajinagar, Bangalore.

Infact I have a set of both the Shogun and Shaolin stickers for future "projects"

Thanks a lot Yamdoot Ji and Big Bore for the stuff.

Finally was able to go for a long drive (although it was only for 105 odd Kms) after a really long time on my bike thanks to you guys.

As far as rebuild is concerned, i havent started it yet am still in the process of collecting the spares.Once i start the work will definately post the pics.

Now, to get the gear indicator working please provide any suggestions.

If any one has the 2000 model shaolin with the gear indicator (Manual) please scan the wiring page and post it and the parts required.
