    I got myself a 1969 jawa recently and amazingly its so much easier to find its parts compared to the kb. Maybe this thing will make KB even more exotic

      exotic or not i dont know or care but one thing im sure of is that the parts shortage is making kb's extinct b'coz ive seen a lot of kb's hanging around junkyards ...in bits,pieces and parts

        Today morning I had to drop a friend to the airport and since he only had a little handbag, we decided on a two-wheeler. While he wanted me to ride his splendor, I preferred my KB. Reached well before the time as we were able to cruise at 70kmph for most part and also crossing 90kmph at times.

        On the way back, I had some good tailwind and wow it almost touched the ton but I didn't open her up completely. Some 7-8kms before my home, I happened to overtake a guy on a RX which seemed to be in a very very good condition. He immediately raced up and overtook me but then I was able to keep pace with him. Didn't push real hard as there was quiet some traffic. The guy didn't had a helmet on so I didn't wanted to push him harder. On one of the straight roads however, the KB was keeping up pace with the RX and we rode side by side for some distance.

        I am really happy with the performance. Later in the day I topped the 2T oil, serviced the carb, plug, brakes and also fixed the tail lamp and an indicator which needed a new bulb.

        All said, off late my bike isnt as smooth as it used to be, has some good amount of vibrations when pushed above 70kmph.

            KB vs splendor

            LOL!! I overtook a splendor guy two days back! He was showin off too much....like he kept his shoulders as if he was drivin an R1....like the sporty seating position the current bikes like apache have(just imagine how he would be looking)....like a hunch back.....anyway i wasn't interested in racing him.....but i casually overtook him at 60 in 4th. He assumed i was racing...so he overtook.....the young blood in me stopped my patient part......i quickly shifted to 3rd and pulled all the way to 70 and then shifted to 4th.......he tried to give a race but.....na......the splendor never stood a chance.....KB raged over like hell was behind it.....he was totally squashed!! He was lookin like....wat on the earth is that!! I respect the legendary splendor for its reliability and mileage....but for the perfomance....

            One good news......my dad has agreed to go ahead with my KB restoration plan if i get through any IIT or NIT. Hopefully I'll do that. Also will restore my first vehicle too.....my hercules bravo cycle along with the bike!!.....thinkin of givin both of them the same wine red colour.

            @yaser
            Bhai. You did the right thing not to race over the RX guy as he did not have a helmet. Guess youngsters like me have to learn a lot from you people.

            @KB100
            pls keep ur restoration plan posted.

            And guys pls try talking to bajaj guys.....i posted a complaint....and as i expected there is no reply yet..... i will now try to call their toll free number(1800 233 2453)...pls pls pls help me out with this!!

                @kb100: I had changed the block piston assembly on my KB when i had rebuilt it around 3 years ago. I managed to get hold of the OE Bajaj spare part whose vendor was Mahle. It worked well so would recommend Mahle Pistons.

                      • Hey peolpe! I spent another 1.2k internally. She's damn smooth. Pickup and mileage have also improved. Thanks to my mech who got the o-ring repaired. Anyways that 1.2k must be enough to frustrate my parents again. So i am in a do or die situation here. If she has a hiccup again, i'm into problem. I hope that doesn't happen since i believe the engine is a very good condition. Now i must buckle up to take good care of her.

                        And my uncle told another int fact. The piston block is just around 7 yrs old. He said that before 7yrs he heard that the pune factory still had some crucial parts with them. So he ordered for the piston block, waited for three months and then got it fitted. I guess thats why my bike's engine is in good condition. I guess u all can also give it a try.

                        @ kb100
                        I'll try to get the images u have asked for and also the bearings brand.
