  • Yamaha RD/FZ 350

A guy in AP got this done from a neighbourhood mechanic, He had 2 RD350 engines at his disposal. He rebuilt an engine with brand new sleeves from bangalore and standard ART pistons, modified the chasis of the FZ16 to fit RD's engine into it,modified the CDI unit, removed the cat converter out of the exhaust and increased the volume of exhaust pipes and added a manifold that connects both exhaust pipes(underneath) into one, decreased the no of teeth on the rear sprocket and many other smaller mods.
The bike sounds awesome and the growl is twice more meatier than a HT

and I got to ride it the next day after the rebuild so wasnt allowed to rev too much or even go above 60-70, but the bike is very smooth and handles like a normal FZ with loads and loads of more power, the front shocks went down about an inch because of the engines weight.

I've seen this bike @ Deccan 1/4 mile drag. he just flew past us and we (myself and shashi) were shocked to see a Fz-16 doing such high speeds. only later we found that it had a RD engine.

i must say it too hard to find the diff. I was regretting that i was not able to take a pic. now i found it here

Nice wrk man,....i think that is the closest to the actual fz1 you can get....
btw doesnt the excess weight hamper the bike's performance in the city???

Good job, but those mesh filters ruin the party ..

two chambers will be good than that 2x1 silencer.

Had a chance to ride an RD 350 only once. Never expected that bike to have so much power till I rode it. It was a balls in mouth situation!!!

I felt that the bike's chassis & brakes are not enough to safely deliver & contain that power the engine produces. Now the FZ 16's chassis & brakes hopefully provide the RD 350's engine with a new cozy home for comfort and confident handling...

For the first time after I rode the RD about 7 years back, I am itching to ride it again - in the FZ's clothes & bones.
