hey ajit! nice to hear about the things ur bike is capable of....it must be an rd killer....well i have a few questions for u. how much did the whole thing cost you? im planning to get an RD...and ive already got an rx135 (4 speed)....im in a fix here. i donno konw whether i should furst modd my rx135 into an RD killer which should cost me a max of 35k or shuld i go in for a good condition rd which would cost me the same...porting the rd will cost another 35k total of 60k plus spares are expensive and so r mechs ...is maintaining ur bike expensive? how regularly do u have to change piston rings ? does it give rd type milage or more and is it a HT killer? i think porting my rx135 will be less damaging to my wallet...maybe when i get more money ill get the rd
...i dream if owning a shogun , a fury and an RD , maybe even a tz one day...so what do think stock rd or ported rx?

I say again, RD killer is an exaggerated term. It is easy to beat badly maintained RDs. A RDD RD is a different kettle of fish.

However, once you get it into proper condition, a stock RD is far easier to maintain than a souped up RX. And more fun to ride too.

However since my aim was to own a nice super-street bike, I opted for the RX. The pain and joy of owning one is not easy to describe.

Remember two-strokes are very highly strung bikes. When modified they are even more so. They will not be usable as long ride bikes if you start porting them.

Cost of modifying my bike? Well that is something I dont want to discuss here because it would be cross-posting. Suffice it to say that even after porting the total cost has been lesser than what a new 5-speed cost in 2001.

I estimate u will probably need to spend in the range of 6K to 8K for a good port on the RX. IMHO, unless you are crazy abt it, ported RDs are overkill. A bone stock bike is enough fun.

So my opinion, in order of preference,
      1) A good condn bone stock RD.
      2) Souped up RX.
      3) Souped up RD.

Now cmon Ajith, most of the RDs out there run like crap, but we arent talking about them, I'm under the impression that your bike can smoke a stock RD350 LT in a straight line, isnt it? I cant believe the guy is so modest about his bike which is capable of powerwheeling at 60kph! lol. Being on topic though, my RD's CO reading came at 1.99(they measure just one silencer's emission.

Modding a single cylinder 2 stroker will give heaps of power, if you are ready to compromise on low end and midrange. From wht i understand if you were to mod up an rx to say about 30bhp, most of the power would be in the top 3-4K of the entire revvability of the engine, but make no mistake once in that kick of the sweet powerband will bring a smile on your face.
On the other hand a stock LT would be a wonderful bike in city and for touring, but again it would lack the top end fury which is the true charm of a 2 stroke.

Cool man!! 1.99 is super sweet for a model started in '79 or so. The porting and the CDI flexing its muscles again. By the way, it is percentage CO by volume, so dont worry, it would have been the same even if you had only one pipe.

Modded bikes require a different sort of a commitment. Dont take me wrong but it is easy to get bugged of the constant living on the edge. And the point abt the power distribution after porting is very dependent on the type of work done. My bike feels as good as a boxer at putter speeds. This despite a super-street port making most of the power AFTER the rev band of a typical RX - starting at 8000, revving out to 13000. Damm I miss a rev counter. I started out NOT knowing too well what would suit me. All thanks to Ron for helping me get what I really needed.

LOL! You heard abt that wheelie too? I prefer to keep the low profile and let the bike do the talking. Meanwhile the kick in the pants is enough ego massage for me. And i forgot to answer one question for hellboy. I dunno my mileage . I only time i checked it was before i ported it and it was 26kmpl. Well... I used to ride at wide open throttle and i slow down completely for turns / traffic because i get my kicks out of acceleration rather than outright speed.
