DD, as I was telling you, I notice an inclination in you to go towards the Old Classics. I think that you should start planning towards really acquiring one, working on it from scratch, something like an old Bonneville650 from the 50s or a BSA that you might just get for a few thousand, and get it restored. You can come on that to the Dhaba and we will all admire and gawk and pat you on the back for a job well done!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

I love Bonnys and the Bsa, nortons and all. as i said i would like to buy one and store it back home in punjab cause i have enough space to do so. but my financial conditions would not allow me to do the bike rite away so i certainly am looking at it, just need to see when i can strike a deal, i came to know last time when i went to Bathinda that there was a Norton that was sold for just 5000 Gandhies. and that was scrapped. i was pulling my hair out when i came to know this it was one of the old Dominator 500 i did not see the bike but i expect it to look like this one bellow.
lets see how things go i already have a invitation to a Vintage club but i need a vintage

That is what I am talking about. I guess that you should send out feelers for deals like that which I am sure you can afford.

@ken cha-cha: Bonneville650,k parts aj ki date me main bhi agar dhundne jauga to mere saare baal safed ho jaenge..and i would get bankrupt by that time...
also if we put copy cat parts on the bike this would not called classic restoration..infacr it would be called frustration..

See thats because you think so, but if a person really wants a Bonny he would know what he has to shell out to get it back into shape, no tom dick or harry can go for one... it need 3 P's, Patience, Passion and Paisa.

              parts are no problem

what do you mean by Copy cat parts

the originals are also made and hand made ones will also do the same task.. it just depends how you make them...

Hey Deep! I thoroughly agree that it's the 3Ps as you put it are required in a person, but then as you know even I dream of owning a Bonnie one day, do you think it's possible to get parts as of today. I mean, when I spoke to a few people for the 500cc, most advised that even though you could find parts, it was becoming difficult day by day. Plus one of the sales managers also said that the company is increasingly focusing on the UCE engines & so the old horses have taken a backseat. I am not saying that it's impossible, but then at times I just wonder how do people maintain such classics, I am sure they have a lot of patience & at least some good amount of money, but then how are they still able to get parts for these beauties. Take care. Happy thumping, Prakhar

                    Hi Deep!

Well yes, that sums it up, but then this isn't a girl I am talking about, the bike wont' come to me on it's own (haha). The only way for me to get one is to go for it & also take care of it the best way I can.

                    Take care.

                      Back again.

Since september rite before the diwali was kinda the last time when i was on my bullet for almost last two months i did not touch the bullet. living without a bullet is a real pain. for the month of october and almost all of november the bullet was lying unsued and there were couple of times when i wanted to start it but the drained out battery did not allow me to do so.

so one day as Ravi had been asking for the bullet i asked him to come and pick it up. for last 10 days bullet was with Ravi bhajee.

i dont know what happened there but it was pain for him to start it. and it was back with me last morning.
Got the basics sorted like the tappets and all that and now today some how i was unable to wake up in time and had to come to the office on my own. i was quite aprehensive about taking the STD to the office cause i had to get there in 15-20 minutes. the other options were the rev happy Yamaha, and the laid back runner Electra. but i choose to go with the STD and i was surprised with all the problems he had been giving me lately today i was able to open it up to 80-90 Kmph and thats fairly good.

i am so in love with my bullet...

                        ahha back with the update.
                        ---------------------------

I have not riden the bike for almost a month now it is with a friend. while we get the electra painted in a 500 Colors. .

Today we ended up using the crome fenders from the Electra on the standard it looked weird to my eyes initially but then looked fine...

                        will post the pics.

the Crome fenders are ligter than the 1960's replica's that i had on my bike...

desideep, I had seen your bike pics long back and when ever I see your post, I open up the thread and look for pics.

Are you changing the tank also ? I always loved the way your bull looked, here and in teambhp snaps.
Know what, the chrome fenders go well only with a bit a chrome on the tank. Precisely the deluxe tank
If you switch to the deluxe tank, the oddity will vanish.

But its a diff bike then. I would have loved to see your bike all black.

Hey Amber bhai, nice clicks there. Saw your pics on the PIP for the first time and its a beauty. The restoration job you've done is amazing.
PS- Get the Dominator or a Bonneville soon. I too have a weakness towards classics..
