I gun the throttle, the motorbike wails, the forks heave up, the revs climb, my view blurs, air gushes in my lid, muscles tighten, street lights streak. Just another day at work...

          You are wery welcome, mate!

The RE front end is very stiff and will make riding a pain. Plus i believe they are heavier than the kayaba's. Did you have to change the t-stem, top plate etc? Th FZ shocks bottom out quite easily. If you hit a variation in the tarmac while cornering, the bike will bounce about quite a bit. Using thicker oil helps but just so much! I use normal castrol 20w40 oil in my shocks(slightly more @ 190ml each). I weigh close to 100kgs and the shocks are just perfect!!
Why dont you get a good tig welder to weld a caliper mount on the fork leg? I had this done. I actually know a lotta people who have had this done. it was more of a DIY thing. By changing the fork/t-stem,top plate etc etc to that of anotehr bike, you are not restoring it but modifying it. So, do you want to restore or modify?

          2. I would stick to the points setup and adjust them regularily instead of putting in the scooty pep/rx cdi. They will get the bike running but it seldom performs as good as with the points setup. The RDD kit costs about 12-13k. I would surely recommend it. Been running it on 3 bikes and i swear by it. Im sure some guys here would say that the pep/rx cdi is better. They are entitled to their opinion and this is clearly mine!

          3. The best way to check if the bike is running lean/rich is to check the plugs after a plug chop. There is misconception that putting more oil makes the bike smoother etc. This is absolutely wrong! putting more than recommended will make the bike run lean and smoke a lot. Petrol is what the bike needs to run cool. Its a spirit after all! By adding more oil, you are feeding in less petrol into each stroke thereby causing it to run lean. Motul W50 is fine.
I would recommed disconnecting the oil pump and using a premix. Dont forget to close the carb oil feeder nipples if you do this. Add about 35-40ml of oil depending on the state of the engine. if you cant afford to run the bike on plain 800v, mix about 15ml of 800v and about 20ml of W50 or jetx to a litre of petrol.

          5. Do not chrome plate the cylinders!! i repeat, do not paint/powdercaot/chrome plate the cylinders. just sand blast the darn things and slap them on. polish/buff the sides for the shine. Clean/plain metal is best for heat dispersion!

          6. Looking forward to seeing pics of the bike with new stickers!

Oh, please ignore the typos. Im in the middle of my exams and need to type super fast!

          Cheers!

1 .On the disc brake front though, i had fitted the royal enfield forks and shocks,
but it had a flipside, as the bike was very harsh going into bumps, he did fix the disc from the thunderbird, but even that didnt make much of a difference,
i guess the disc brake setup and forks from the 220 will help in damping the suspension, as well as helping in braking!

2.Will putting the CDI from the scooty/Rx lead to loss in power?, because my bike is still running on stock pistons and the engine is in it's original state, and i definately don't want a loss in power, as i am quite impressed by it's performance in it's current state? \

3.Yes i use mixture, though not very lean, as the bike smokes heavily, if mixture is lean, but yes i will check if the 2t pump is clogged, or not running properly, point taken!

4.Right now i am using Conventional Motul W50 oil, will it cause any harm?

5.Point taken i am goin get the cylinders chrome plated!

6.On the cosmetic front, i am preparing the original RD style stickering for the bike, so next time you see the pic of this bike, it's gonna be in showroom condito=ion!!

          DO reply!
