I dont know about Surojit's Apache but if you are referring to the RTR in the teaser pic then that tyre is not stock. Its Zapper Q 110/90.

Yes this ride was not one of the exploring rides but still we were excited because we knew we could do a lot of things on the selected route. As usual I was the first one to reach the meeting point on ride day. I reached there at 0500 hrs. Soon Satyen, Deven, Kashif, and Ankit turned up. We were waiting for Hyperion. Then we went to CCD to grab some snacks as most of us were hungry. Nikhil and Alok SMSed me that they won’t be able to come. While we were waiting, Vishwas, Sagar, Ritwik and Shirud also turned up and soon left for Lavasa. It was almost 0540 hrs and we were still waiting for Hyperion because none of us had a camera and we wanted to document this ride so needed pics. Then we called Hyperion and he was like "I am not coming, not in mood”… but soon he understood our situation and agreed to come. He reached Chandni chowk at around 0640 hrs. In the meantime Satyen was getting confused about his destination. He was thinking of going to Lavasa and in the next split sec he was willing to go somewhere else. After the arrival of Hyperion we didn’t want to waste any more time and so we started. Some details before we move on:

                      Total distance covered ~170kms

                      Route—Pune – Paud – Pawna – Kamshet – Uksan – Shirota – Pune

                      Riders and their rides:

                      Ankit- FZ
                      Deven -FZ
                      Hyperion- RTR160
                      Kashif - P180
                      Satyen - RTR180
                      Surojit- CBZ Classic

We headed toward Paud and w were supposed to take a right turn. Hyperion was running low on fuel; by low I mean he was using the reserved capacity of his RTR's fuel tank. He said that he wasn’t willing to come so he didn’t tank up. Nevertheless we decided to move on and tank up as and when required. Hyperion was leading the group and soon we took a right turn following him.I got a call from Vishwas, he said that “Lavasa is fun today, its too foggy and visibility is limited to less than a meter”. I passed on the message to everyone, after a bit of discussion we decided to stick to our original plan. The direction board ahead showed that the road headed to Hinjewadi, we still continued it, thinking “zada se zada kya hoga? Wapas aana padhega" and our doubts were soon cleared and we had to turn back and come to the main road and head to Paud. Reaching Paud we saw another fork and this time we were sure that the right turn will take us to Pawana dam. Hyperion went on a futile fuel hunt and soon we started rolling again. This time the road was not so good, but we could easily ride at 60-65 kmph. Soon we could see the vast stretches of greenery in front of us. This obviously called for a photo-break. Soon we took our bikes off the narrow road and made them pose for the cam. It was a beautiful sight with green grass covering the ground then giving way to the dam waters and the waters knocking on the footsteps of the green hills.

Before we could finish our photography session we witnessed something not-so-common. We saw a CB1000R and a baby Ninja coming our way. We were awestruck to see suck kinda bikes on these kinda roads. It was Prashant and his friend on the Ninja. We had a small chit-chat session and he educated us about his trip to Austria. They left as they had to hurry but we were really impressed by their spirit, the spirit to ride on these kinds of roads. After their departure we also took leave from the scenic spot within a while.

We were hungry and so we decided that out next stop will be Pawna dam and Hyperion said that he has to return early, so it was decided that we won’t waste time in doing faltu stuff. After going for a few more kms, we saw a gentle declivity. This was one of the best views we witnessed on this trip till now. The black tarmac road was distinctly visible amidst the green grassy land.Hyperion was sent up the acclivity by us so that he could get some worthwhile snaps, which could portray the beauty of this place.

Look at Kashif he was like “don’t tell me we will take this boring road”

While Hyperion was busy clicking, Ankit and I were contemplating some off-roading. We didn’t want to miss any opportunity. I could see a small tree on the adjacent hill and I wanted to go there so was looking for a way to reach that point. And as they say ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’, soon we found a trail that was connecting the two hills on the edge. But that trail was limited to the start of the other hill. We followed it and whatever followed after that was simply splendid. The fun on riding on a “ROAD” that you can’t see is unmatched. We rode to that point cautiously and then we could see that others were also on their way to join the party. The panorama was filled with green and blue color. Some pics to make you understand what we witnessed and why am I running out of words.

Soon after the superb photo session we decided to head back because we had already spent approx. 90 mins on the same spot. But Kashif ,Satyen and Ankit wanted to go a step ahead and find whether w can ride down the hill and later connect to the main road. As Hyperion was running low on fuel he decided to stay back for the updates. Deven and me accompanied him. Soon the former group was no longer visible and so I went ahead to update the latter group about the former groups whereabouts. . As I went ahead I saw Ankit standing on what seemed to be the last ride-able meter of the hill. I parked my bike to see two crazy guys (read Kashif and Satyen) tying to ride their bike down a hill covered by grass, making it somewhat slippery. But seeing them I myself felt like ‘this is gonna be fun’. And hence waited for their report. But after descending down, they found that there was no way ahead, but instead there was a natural drainage kinda thing. But there was no way back, so Kashif started to make a ROAD by placing some stone blocks on the drain. I went up to inform the other group that we can make it but they were nowhere to be seen. Before long we could spot them on the main road, guess they were bored of waiting. Then Ankit and I descended the hill and surprisingly Ankit found a way out to the drainage thru a bush. We then somehow made it to the road, and junta (read farmers, villagers) stood there agape with wonder. We just smiled looking at them and continued.

Soon we were near Pawna dam. We saw a small tapri there and decided to take our long-delayed breakfast. Ankit and Satyen had a mini-water fight as soon as we parked our bikes. We ordered vada-pau and bhajji. Suddenly Ankit realized that his sack wasn’t anywhere near him. Then he realized that he hadn’t picked it up from the first stop itself. He rushed to get his sack. Hyperion, who had missed out the off-roading part jumped to accompany him and he took Deven’s fuel-filled FZ . Luckily Ankit found his sack and these guys did the off-roading once again. After having a small discussion we headed towards our destination. On the way we stopped for fuel and then crossed Mumbai-Pune E-way, the NH4 and then reached Kamshet. There were some tight turns on this stretch and to make things worse half the roads at some corners were covered with gravels. On our way to Uksan Lake we spotted a few trails but we were running late and our leader failed to notice them so we headed directly to Uksan. The road was again a narrow one-laned road with greenery all around. We then had to ride a short stretch of half-baked road to reach the Uksan Dam. The dam looked like a desolate place with no one around, not even a watchman or guard. We then went to the shore and Satyen started getting his foot-massaged in a natural way, by walking along the loosely held muddy shore. Kashif and Ankit were the next ones. Ankit said that the walk reminded him of his childhood memories (for details please contact Ankit). While we were busy enjoying the message and Ankit-Satyen’s mortal combat with water and stones Hyperion were busy clicking. Some of the snaps:
