I am new to biking, so I need any inputs/advice/suggestions...

I hope you guys wont dissapoint me... Looking forward to the Banglore G2G...

The road from Bangalore to Mys is good, just watch out for road humps and stray villagers and cattle. From Mysore, you have the fabulous SH88, but you will be taking a deviation to Gonikappa, and the road ain't that great. But once you cross the Rajiv Gandhi national reserve, the roads are better and then to Irriti, you have the superb, freshly laid out ghat roads. The ghat roads are awesome, had been there 2 weeks ago. From there on, the kerala roads are great too

        Enjoy and ride safe

        BTW, what'll you be riding?

I once made car trip once from Kannur to Bangalore. I went via Irriti > Mysore > Bangalore .

But on my return journey, I came via Bangalore > Mysore > Gundlupet > Sultan Bathery > Kozhikode > Kannur.

Though about 60 something kilometer more, I liked the second route i.e NH 212. The roads seems good. But note that the sterch on bandipur national reserve will be closed from 9pm to 6 am.

          - When in Karnataka roads, not the Mysore-Bglr highway, it looks pretty empty all the time and might tempt you to take high speeds but cattles and people can come unexpectedly.

          - Also, when I was coming back, I saw suddenly saw some (I believe it was) hay, laid on the road, possibly for drying it up, and lost control of my car for some time. Though you should be alright if you do a decent speed and be careful.

          - When in national forest, try not to stop anywhere.

          - Unlike Kerala roads, the roads outside cities/towns, like mysore are not high on people density. So check your bike for all faults, last thing you want is getting stranded near a forest reserve. Plan to cross the reserve in the day time. Not dawn or dusk.
