But not able to decide on the date, so thought of doing it on 2nd Oct, being holiday and then followed by a Sunday. Reached Silvassa by morning 8:30 & while travelling to Silvassa spent most of the time planning out about the trip. When to start, when to take breaks, what would be the milestone to complete during the day & mind it on paper it seems like a piece of cake, just ride & enjoy.
Started from there after meeting couple of friends..Err let me rephrase the sentence, was about to start the voyage from there.
From here starts the journey full of surprises.
Surprise No.1.
Surprise No.2
When I left Silvassa that was time when rainy season was about to say goodbye but still occasional showers were still on & due to this somehow the inlet of the petrol tank was jam, spent almost 15-20 minutes in trying to open it with the help of the attendant over there. Finally the lock opened up, filled up the tank & started again. Till the time I reached the junction point to NH-8, I have already relooked the plan of doing this trip 2 times. But decided to go with, what heart says, as there was lot of traffic on the highway because of slow moving trucks & fast moving cars so thought of keeping the momentum for at 60kmph till the time I cross vapi & here comes
Surprise No.3
Due to ongoing constructions work at various locations on the highway there was almost 2km long jam on the highway & I was stuck up in that at very odd location, Spent the next 15 minutes sweating like hell in the leather jacket & gloves, again relooking the plan of road trip. But when it comes to heart Vs head, I decided to go ahead with the heart & decided not to relook the plan again ever for next two days.
After this there was no looking back, opened the throttle to its fullest, cruised on the NH-8 at 120. Soon I was approaching Surat in no time. Thought of taking a break, refilled body with fresh water, had tea & sandwich after a nice milkshake. After spending next 30 min, I was again on the saddle, cruising, maintaining the speed at 120, so that I can reach himmatnagar, where a friend of friend has arranged for a nite stay.
Everything running fine, in line, no over speeding, proper over taking & while overtaking it was fun to see expression of people driving in their air conditioned cars.
But even after maintaining a nice speed was able to reach on the outskirts of Ahmadabad only around 1800 hrs. Light was dropping down & still 80 kms was remaining to be covered. Change of plan, instead of reaching himmatnagar, planned to stay at Ahmadabad, called up my old buddy Garry, informed him about my incoming, got direction on how to reach his home but made a silly mistake ,
Day 2
Reviewed the targets for the day & started sailing again, as heard from many of the x-bhp guys, loved riding on the twists while approaching Udaipur.
When Udaipur was under 100 kms, took the much needed breakfast break. From there decided to take the NH-76. This thought came up to mind after reading blog by XBhpien PKON & from the valuable inputs from Rakesh(Rockyrakesh), who just conquered the mighty NH-8 although it has added an extra 100 kms to the whole route, but this was the best thing I have done on day 2. Riding on NH-76 was pure bliss, in no time I was approaching Jaipur, after bypassing chittorgarh, maintained speed of 130 kmph during the whole section of NH-76.
When I was about to reach Jaipur, started feeling bore after covering so much distance. Just then overtook two guys on riding on Delhi registered R15, who were accompanied by another two guys riding on pulsar 135. Waved them to stop, they were coming from chittorgarh & their plan was to reach Delhi by night although they were much relaxed about the timing to reach there. But riding was them no good decision as they riding so relaxed they were cruising at 60kmph, just after crossing Jaipur, guy riding Yamaha met an unfortunate incident, got injured. Thank heavens, they were not seriously injured, only minor injuries, but asked them to have rest instead of driving.
Although it was very tiring, wrists were paining like hell. But even than I enjoyed this duration of 23 hrs when I was on saddle. Few thing which I have learnt were, it took a hell lot of patience to cover such distances, so be ready to face the worst, one might surely get bored, so have proper breaks & try to ride in groups & last but not the least, if you are following Google maps, follow it by heart. In 99.95% cases it will provide you the exact location of whereabouts & guide you thru the trip.
Here I would I like to say thanks to Shikha, My Sweetu (for bringing the jacket all the way from UK), Rahul (for getting me the clear type visor) & Rakesh (for getting me valuable inputs on the road conditions).
Ride hard & keep riding!!!
