  • [Photo Feature]: Short ride to Mawsynram, Meghalaya.

Mawsynram is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya state in north-eastern India, 56 kilometers from Shillong. It is reportedly the wettest place on Earth, with an annual rainfall of 11,872 millimetres (467.4 in). According to the Guinness Book of World Records Mawsynram received an incredible 26,000 millimetres (1,000 in) in 1985. Name of village contains Maw, a Khasi word meaning stone and thus might refer to certain megaliths in surroundings[1]. Khasi Hills are rich with such megaliths - Khasi monoliths erected fairly recently to commemorate important events and people.

However, we were lucky enough for the weather was perfect for the Sunday ride.
    Some pics!

Below: Inside Mawjymbuin Cave, where the natural Shivling is found.
About 100 Devotees had been walking about 50-60 kms bare footed and it took them almost 2 days to reach the shrine from Shillong.

Shivling, decorated with garlands and offerings

Back view of the Chest Guard

    Attitude wale log!

    Oooo those killer looks!

    Sun set view of Mawsynram

And finally the odd pics of the day!

    Nanz, jhari ke peche

    And the happy faces!

It was a wonderful day, enjoyed the whole ride, except for a group of drunk kids on i10 who ruined the ending.
    Till then....
    logging off....
    from Shillong...

If you have heard of Mawsynram, then most probably you must have heard of Cherrapunjee too (the previous record holder for the heaviest rainfall in the world). I guess you were referring to pic6, my crazy idea clicked by Hru

2nd one is better, but 3rd one is the best!
and the sunset is beautiful, somehow I am always attracted towards sunset views.
And yes Conrad, I was scared when JDan and Brandon were arguing with those drunkards, he almost lost his control of anger. but remember even those Gentelmen in suits were supporting us and were even ready to bash those drunkards. I felt very uneasy after that and good that nothing happened till we reached home.

ya I remember and I was unnecessarily getting angry at the police officer who was drunk and the Driver who was a learner in driving and the Big 'L' in the front windshield. I forgot i was just an ordinary citizen, shouting at he officer. And poor Raul, he had to bear another expenditure for the accident.
